Apparently the criteria used for awarding medals has changed DRAMATICALLY in the last year or so.

I have a screen from my start page in ROF that is from a couple of years ago. I also have a screen showing my configuration in ROF that has been used from the beginning.

With this configuration I just flew a solo mission where I downed 8 aircraft in one flight. Because of the lone patrols I scheduled for that day I bagged over TWENTY enemy planes.

No flying, aiming, shooting, ammo or engine help. The stuff I have engaged are to help me find "targets" - I want to find and shoot things, not wander around in the hopes of finding a target. I have downed 56 planes so far in this particular campaign and the highest award is the Iron Cross Ist Class....

NOT A SINGLE AWARD for this days flying....

What happened?

8 planes in one mission doesn't meet your strict criteria? I believe the requirement for the Blue Max was 20 aircraft.

I went to your link and I see why this part of ROF is now so lame-you put way too much effort on number of missions flown.

I flew helo's in the US Army and for example, we received the Air Medal which was primarily based on number of missions flown. Didn't mean s--t if you did anything other than follow the guy in front of you, didn't get lost or made it back with your bird mostly in one piece, that was good.

Frank Luke certainly wouldn't meet your criteria for the MOH but that does make sense as it's usually presented for a specific act of bravery not because you had good attendance.
