Considering it took him 6 years for last book and that book may as well have been The Old Man And The Sea - only with Tyrion floating down a river), just enjoy the show.

most of what was hinted in the books are now playin out on the show. May as well watch to see if your guesses are on the money

Oh to hell with it. I follow far too much social media to avoid any spoilers. I have 2 choices, watch the series or get off of social media. So, I start the new season tonight.

GoT is a rarity with only one parallel I can think of: The Walking Dead.

I like both the comics and the TV show, but they're really alternate versions of each other. They match perfectly (right down to the framing of the drawing/shots in some events) in some places, but one can't ever be sure where they'll match up.

In some ways it's like fan fiction being written by professionals with the original author nodding with approval.

So watch GoT and think that they're different versions of the same story with a lot of "what if" thrown in.

The opinions of this poster are largely based on facts and portray a possible version of the actual events.

Yes Feetwet do it!!

Besides: For me the first books were over the top, the later ones I didnt like so much (especially a Fest for Crows was boring). So I do not lay much hope in the next book.

Well I'm already caught up. I for one love the books but im not convinced the author wants to finish the series. If winter is coming at this pace, this generation of people is safe.
