Kermit Weeks's new Fokker D.VII arrived - take a look at the aircraft with him!

There are more parts in YouTube!

Nice! Even if a bit too red to my taste, I prefer the Memorial Flight colors.

On the other video, it is impressive to see how quick the tail goes up as soon as he puts some throttle.

In the small Quebec village of Knowlton, on Lac Brome near the Vermont border, there is a DVII still with its original fabric. Brought to Canada as a war trophy, it's been in the town museum since the 20s.

That Memorial Flight DVIIF is striking--love the lozenge and Jasta 4 markings--but that particular Udet plane didn't have stripes on the wing, and it wasn't an F. Seems these repro guys build a lovely plane and then paint it whatever they want, with little-to-no regard for accuracy. As I always say, it's like building a B-17G and then painting it to look like the Memphis Belle. Still, that's a great photo.

All those noses came up fast after power application. That's why you see guys holding down the tails when they ran up the engines.

Yup, that is a lot of air suddenly blasting along a very lightweight empennage and lifting surface. Tends to make it come up right now if you are not mindful.

Beautiful aeroplane even with the incorrect livery. Oh to have Kermit Weeks' working capital and free time to spend on such a hobby, eh?

Who cares about the livery... what a great photo... I have only immense admiration for all of these people that can get these aeroplanes in the air, repro or not!
I'll be interested to see how Kermit gets on with his DVII, what a great job he has smile

D7 is my fav slaughtering machine. The DRI is a close second tied with the camel and the N28.

Embrace the feeling of superiority!

Powerful WWII tail-draggers also needed weight on the tail to stop them nosing over. There is that wonderful true story of a WAAF who was taken on a whole circuit on the tail of a Spitfire when she forgot to let go duh

The aircraft AB910 - a Spitfire VB is still flying with the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight run by the RAF. See here:
http://www.raf.mod.uk/bbmf/theaircraft/spitfireab910.cfm

Notice in the picture of the aircraft running recently the tail is tied down!
