For the first time in the four years playing OFF/WOFF, I finally had a pilot reach over 50 flying hours. I was half expecting confetti, balloons, and champagne corks to pop out of the monitor, but it was just the usual mission debrief screen.

I got fired as the door man at a sperm bank. Apparently it's in poor taste to tell leaving customers "Thanks for coming."

The 50-hour mark is a strictly " bring your own champagne" event Congratulations though - that's definitely a landmark while playing DoD!
If you're having trim problems, I feel bad for you son I got ninety-nine problems, but my pitch ain't one...

. AceMedic88, I also offer my congratulation to you on hitting the 50-hour mark. And congratulations to you as well Raine on 100 hours. Looks like we have both of you to thank for the drinks tonight in the Officers' Mess. BARKEEP! .

Thanks for the comments, guys, and a second hearty congratulation to AceMedic.
As Robert, Hasse, Banjoman, and Lou (with their amazingly long DiD careers)must certainly have experienced, once your pilot gets to 50 hours every flight becomes realistically nerve-wracking. For me, creating and writing a detailed back-story about a DiD pilot immeasurably increases the enjoyment of the sim.
I find that four or five days of easy combat can pass by and then something truly terrifying happens. Your engine conks out miles into Hunland, or you find yourself entertaining four well-handled Pfalzes with wonky controls and shot-up surfaces. You're so invested in your pilot's character by this time that it takes real effort to keep calm and in control.
This is the real magic of the WOFF experience.
