Pips, the rudder will not interfere with any joystick.
You just need to "unbind" all input commands from both joystick and rudder,
and then you select each controller and "bind" the desired actions to it.
Especially important is, to "unbind" the rudder function from the twist stick,
and then to "bind" it to the pedals.
The WOFF menue is great there.

For most WW1 planes rudder input is essential IMHO; you may need some time
to get used to the different feel of it, but you should make that step.
You will like it!

Just want to add that I have CH Pro pedals and so far they've lasted 12 years or so. If I got them when I still lived in Chicago--can't remember--that'd be over 13 years. Have I gotten my money's worth? In spades.

When I learned to fly buttbeaters (Cessnas) I was taught (and eventually taught others) to keep my heels on the floor and manipulate the pedals with the balls of my feet, so when I started using sim pedals that's naturally how I use them. I only come up on them fully to use toe brakes, which we don't have to worry about in WOFF. Otherwise, heels on floor. It's natural for me, comfortable, and I also feel it gives me more rudder control and finesse. Still, nothing "wrong" with putting your foot in the CH pedal "cups," either.

Excellent as I fly in boots.

Actually I too tend to just leave my heels on the floor and use the balls of my feet and use the 'heel 'cups' primarily on the ground for toe braking control as well. The pedals are not stiffly sprung and require relatively little pressure to manipulate. They will function fine however you choose to place your feet. If I have one minor complaint about them is they are a bit noisy. That could just be due to their advanced age at this point.

Just got contacted with all the tracking info for my pedals.
Scheduled to be delivered on the first day of my vacation.
Now I just have to pray for rain...

Tuesday is the day.
Then I'll teach the Dr.1 a thing or two about who's in charge of the flight! Hopefully it will be me...

Well I feel like a real pilot now.
The new pedals are working very well and the (new) Dr.1 is now my b....!
Only issue is the boots I wear all the time as it makes the pedals somewhat difficult to feel for fine adjustment.
Gonna have to get me a pair of real WW1 pilot socks I suppose for flight.
Rudder pedals (and the CH Pro brand) are highly recommended.

Duke, believe it or not, but I simply bought me a pair of light Kung Fu slippers.
Before that, I had thick woolen socks over me normal socks - all for the feeling!

Duke,
You will enjoy them for years, I have a pair that are at least 15 years old and they still work. Good flying.

Just happened across another set of pedals.
These are all metal construction and I understand are upwards of $500.

Looks like there are two variations, F16 and ME109.
