Is the 16 being shared with something else... you would need to look into your motherboard.
What is the make and model?
What slot is your card in?
What other SATA devices are you using, and what ports are they plugged into.
I will look at updating my driver to keep apples to apples.

I flew the same QS - was getting 130+ FPS (my monitor has 144MHZ refresh)
I turned off Gsync was still over 100
I set fps as below and it was mostly at 60fps but dropped to 55 a couple times when the view was at the ground

If you have another card in a slot adjacent to the primary graphics card, many motherboards will 'share' the 16 PCIe lanes by splitting them into 8 + 8 across two slots.

Also, there might be a BIOS setting that sets the number of PCIe lanes by slot. My Z170-AR does this.

To be honest, though, it shouldn't matter: PCIe 3.0 at x8 is same as PCIe 2.0 at x16 - and it's long since been proven that no current game taxes a GPU heavily enough that PCIe 2.0 x16 is saturated, even the difference between x8 and x16 on PCIe 2.0 is fairly negligible I believe (at the present time, anyway).

Plus, as you've pointed out - none of your other games suffer these problems, and (if it is actually running at x8) well, it's at that same setting for the other games too, right?

The GPU is on PCIe X 16
My mainboard is Gigabyte GA Z97X-UD5H
I'm using an Intel SSD 330 for the OS, 3 HDD ( 2 x WD6400AAKS / 1 x Seagate 1TB ) and Samsung SSD 850 EVO 500 GB for games, and 1 x DVD RW Samsung

No, no other games suffer these problems, i play DCS with 3840 x 2160 - Ultra settings
Same for BoS, RoF, CoD only medium settings, but thats okay

According to Gigabit website:

1 x PCI Express x16 slot, running at x16 (PCIEX16)
* For optimum performance, if only one PCI Express graphics card is to be installed, be sure to install it in the PCIEX16 slot.

1 x PCI Express x16 slot, running at x8 (PCIEX8)
* The PCIEX8 slot shares bandwidth with the PCIEX16 slot. When the PCIEX8 slot is populated, the PCIEX16 slot will operate at up to x8 mode.

1 x PCI Express x16 slot, running at x4 (PCIEX4)
* The PCIEX4 slot shares bandwidth with the PCIEX8 and PCIEX16 slots. When the PCIEX4 slot is populated, the PCIEX16 slot will operate at up to x8 mode and the PCIEX8 will operate at up to x4 mode.
* When installing a x8 or above card in the PCIEX4 slot, make sure to set PCIE Slot Configuration in BIOS Setup to x4. (Refer to Chapter 2, "BIOS Setup," "Peripherals," for more information.)
(The PCIEX16, PCIEX8 and PCIEX4 slots conform to PCI Express 3.0 standard.)

Do you have any cards in the other slots?

So, we can infer then that even if your GPU *is* running at PCIe 3.0 x8, it's probably not a limiting factor.

(You should still try to find out what's going on though).

Updated my driver, did not hurt anything. Same results as before.

Well, according to Gigabit, that's why your GPU is running at PCIe 3.0 x8 - the motherboard shares PCIe lanes from the PCIe x16 slot when you put cards in those other slots.

That said, I would still doubt that this is causing a big problem, for the reasons/evidence I cited above.

A few micro-stutters are acceptable, IMHO. There is no way that I know of how to get rid of them in WOFF, so I've adapted to having a few in 1918 missions.

Still, if you want to diagnose the stutters, you'll need to set-up the dual display with game on one and task manager on the other. I don't have any info on how to do it, but I believe it's a function of display settings in windows. Try googling on how to do it. You'll need to isolate the application that's causing it.

Oldhat what are you trying to achieve here, a second monitor could cause more stutter problems? If you want an OSD monitoring he can use MSI afterburner and HWInfo. See my screenshots as a good tweaker I always monitor what happen ingame and right now it appears WoFF3 is causing 10% extra CPU load.

That is good to monitor loads, but my idea is to see which program/service is accessing the CPU while CFS3 is running and not to monitor loads. Second monitor should not be a issue with his GPU and if he reduces the resolution also.

I was tweaking around with my Settings a long Time, and all I can say is, that in my Case it has something to do with the Graphic Settings.
What I have found out:
When I fly a Campaign-Mission at Dusk or at Dawn or at Night, the Game runs smooth and liquid as never before. Even with Medium Air Activity in 1918-Campaigns. But if the Sun rises up during a Mission, the Game begins to Stutter... I don't know why and I don't know how, but I've seen this Effect now several times, and it's always the same. It has nothing to do with my CPU, that is for sure. It must be something that I must tweak in my Graphics-Driver, it is some Problem with the Shaders IMHO. Unfortunately I am also not able to run the Game with the Default Shaders (Runtime.dll Crash every time), even after a fresh Re-Install. My GPU is an NVIDIA Geforce GTX 970 and my OS is Win10.

I've tried so much different Settings in the last Months, but nothing helps.

And if this was not bad enough, I have found out that WOFF 3 runs even more worse on my System than WOFF 2. I don't know what to do anymore. Very Sad!

But as I said, I am pretty sure it has something to do with my Graphics-Card. Will not give it up...

Andy73, Woff3 is eating more CPU load, so I guess in your case it is one CPUcore that is peaking to 100%. What CPU do you use?
I know clouds can do silly things maybe try a flight at clear sky for testing and one full of white clouds.

BTW I did discover also something, because of my tweaking, my Highly overclocked Vcard is only using 1Gb Vram and 50% load max. While RoF is consuming lots of GPU power, I was assuming that WoFF did the same, so I did not take any attention to this.
Hell my GPU-OC is complete waste of Watts, it can even be under clocked.
duh

I'm telling you, guys : whatever you do, tweaking or whatsoever, you'll never get rid of the stutterings.
That's it, i'm dissapointed, it's a nice sim after all, but unplayable. Some users here, maybe, pretend they dont have / see / the micro-stutterings, and they play it as it is.
Well, i can't.

Bronnx, I've mentioned this already two Years ago, but I haven't given it up to get rid of those Stutters... And I will try it further, simply because WOFF is a very good Game and I am a big Fan of WW1 Aviation.

I am playing with a ASUS Z 170-K Motherboard with the very good Intel i-7 6700k on it, and a GTX 970 plus 8 GB DDR4 RAM. One Day it must work properly!!!!

Andy, when you find out how to get rid of the stutterings, please tell me.
I'm pretty sure, i will upgrade 5-6 GPU's / CPU's / motherboards, i will play a lot of other games, and you wont have the answer.
The devs should fix that, not us.

The Problem is, that nearly every Player Worldwide will say: "The Sim runs fine, no Problems here!"

So the two like us who are having Problems with this Game, will be ignored.

The Devs will fix nothing, it is on us. As always, the Comment will be: There is nothing to fix.
Sorry, but that's the Fact, we have to find out for ourselves what is wrong on our System.

I am also tired of tweaking and working on this Problem, I have spent MONTHS of my Life on this since WOFF was released in 2013.
But I like WOFF and I will give it a Chance, I am also a very big Fan of their Phase 3, which runs much, much better, perfectly smooth and liquid on my System even today.
