[edit] Apparently the word " Saitek" above has been turned into a link going to Amazon. I didn't insert the link and I highly recommend that nobody click on it. g. This linking is normal, a kind of forum merchandising, happen with HOTAS and some brands. BTW - Seems that after your observations about "jet pedals" Saitek Pedals on Amazon were valued: 400$, 600$ prices! Have you seen the prices for Saitek Pro Flight rudder pedals on ebay. Someone in L.A. Is actually asking over $2,200.0 0 for a used set.. There are others on ebay for ridiculous prices over $1,000.00

If you had to spend four figures on rudder pedals, I'd expect 'em to be one of those nice RealSimulator, Aerotronics or Bugeye F-16 replica pedal sets. Full-metal construction and all that, like they belong in the real plane... heck, maybe you could actually buy surplus F-16 pedals for that much. Oh, and come to think of it, it's past midnight, May 4th is here! Get ready, everyone, the announcement is imminent!

No argument that the aforementioned high end pedals are the better choice for that price, but are any of those readily available? One issue with the high end of our hobby, is that other than the TM warthog, there aren't any "off the shelf" options. Everything is essentially small batch manufacturing with waiting periods that can often span several months. Not saying that paying 2k for the serviceable, but comparatively underwhelming Saiteks is warranted. But, if you want pedals NOW, seems like your only option is CH, as it looks like Saitek is discontinuing a lot of it's products and those TM pedals aren't available yet.

I wanted to know more about those rudder pedals. A bit more of info wouldn't have hurt.

Well, they leave the "promise" of new Rudder Pedals in ~2018/19 and new HOTAS in ~2020/21: Also notable on the throttle is that weird paddle they showed in the button layout pic, but removed on the demo floor unit pictured above. If that's actually an optional rudder rocker that doesn't get in the way of the slew control, 6DoF space simmers rejoice, for now we have proper centering forward/reverse axis control!

Was that it? Crappy plastic remake? OMG. And a brand new throttle. That's actually something, when you consider that as far as retail, off the shelf products go: - Saitek just announced a "new" Rhino HOTAS that has...an additional thumb stick. And they appear to be discontinuing products like they're going out of style. - Logitech doesn't even bother with this space anymore. -CH hasn't changed their line up since the invention of the USB port. That throttle is actually a bigger deal than you think. A nice mid range throttle like that sold stand alone makes an excellent addition to the single stick packages out there. Those new to the hobby can start with something like a CH Fighter Stick or T.1600M, and then complement it with this throttle down the road to grow into a full HOTAS. Since it has a rudder axis, it also can further delay the need for pedals, especially in Jet sims where that's not as critical a control.

After reading many comments after the event, I see the typical response from the community. The hardcore dedicated flight simmers demand more / better, but forget that they are others who want to get into flight sims but can't afford to chuck out a lot of money to get started. Those who have an established platform need to be aware that things are not always going to be suited for them.

The throttle I like. As Aggressor said, good for the entry point user... The whole event was hyped, that's the problem I see. People got excited and all they got was a tiny set of rudder pedals and a new throttle, both entry or mid level. I think they missed the boat with the rudders thou. If they were bigger they could compete (and probably beat) Saitek a lot more easily.
When you're feeling sad, just remember that somewhere in the world, there's someone pushing a door that says "pull".

Plastic "per si" is not the problem, depends on their quality, through these forums is related cases of "all metal" Cougar/Warthog that fall from desk and broken, but no case of CH gear in same circumstances. I have there plastic CH Combatstick (this poor fall from their support several times, until I bolt then there ) and Tm WCS that last since end of 90's in continue use (USB'erized). On the other way Saitek plastic tends break with age. CH probable new update in joystick is: they will follow Logitech and leave this market. Other TWCS cluse-up: photo uploading

Those who have an established platform need to be aware that things are not always going to be suited for them. The problem is TM talked about a line up, a squadron of products. And also, they announced nothing in the mid range, which is just Mad Catz crap. It's just entry level or end level for them.
