HI
Here's a link to the current and future patch notes that's worth keeping bookmarked. Patch Notes

There's supposed to be another patch today (May 3rd) with 'phase 2 breeding mechanics', whatever that means. Some think babies in the wild with protective parents.

I've learned to take the release date with a grain of salt until they give an actual ETA time for deployment. They usually miss the initial date by a couple of days, and the new breeding may be a big thing for them to test.

The breeding phase 2 has also been on the patch notes for a couple of cycles so far. Unfortunately not only has it not come out yet but I haven't seen any info on what it means either.

On a side note though, they seem to never hit their date but the updates keep coming at a furious pace.

awwwww Birdo! I've played a bit offline every now and then. The system where it stops time when you log out is useful in some places and horrible in others (like growing things).

I might just jump on there with you guys again sometime. I've mostly just been playing planetside 2 by myself lol.

Yeah, breeding seems absurd at the moment, but we had to give it a try. It's better simply to find a creature in the wild that's already an adult and tranq it and train it. MUCH faster.

You can have a full grown T-Rex trained up in an hour as opposed to 4 days or so of rearing a baby.

I know which I'd rather do.

For the high level dinos though you have to breed them. (or you did) where the baby would randomly inherit part of the parents stats. So if you bred a high damage raptor with a high stamina raptor the baby has a chance to have high damage and stamina before you even begin training him.

That might have all changed though. Didnt seem worth the effort for me though. Was easier to just go out and tranq a high level dino then feed it prime meat until it was yours. Thats how I got birdo. Im not even sure you can get dinos that high anymore or train them with that many levels.

I think that is how it still is Master. And that may be of ultra importance on a serious PVP server but for us, even the low level Rexs kick most things teeth in.

So snap, I got on this morning at 6:30 central. She still had a crap ton of food on her and the bin was pretty full still. Not sure when you got off last night but I logged out at 12:30 cent.

I got on around 7:30am PST and filled the bin. She's not eating the food on her, she's using the bin, so basically she's a fridge. I've been slowly transferring food out of her inventory into the bin.

She was about 85 lbs this morning.

Ok I'll keep that fact in mind. I'll check her when I get home from dinner tonight.

HI
FYI, new patch is supposed to be deploying today. Looks like the breeding phase 2 will actually happen. Can't wait for the nightmare-inducing centipedes as well....

HI
This guy...

Looks like the breeding got pushed back to next patch again, as well as the ruins...oh well.

HI
Here's a map I've been running around on in single player that makes the game map boring in comparison...

Called The Center, it won one of their earlier mod competitions and is going to be incorporated into the game as an integrated map with official servers in the future. It's now 100% complete and the author will update it with new content as it's added to the game.

Another highly rated user map in the current competition is 'Valhalla', showing 75% complete :

Haven't tried it yet, but looks good.

I have begun re-seeding. Please don't harvest commons near the buildings.

So snap and I have been kicking around the idea of backing up our current server and starting an open server with the center. 241.2 has moved that from mod to mainline map.

HI
I keep forgetting to hop on Teamspeak when you guys are on...sorry 'bout that smile
Anyway, I think you'd be very happy with the move. My buddy and I found a server that was running this map since it was a mod, and it's proven to be superior to the original map. This map already has features that were planned for future updates to the other map including the ruins, underwater 'bubbles' that support base building, etc. The server we are on has XP/resource gathering set to 8x normal which allowed us build a decent base and build up to survivable levels in hours/days instead of a week or 2. We also only have to manually feed/babysit the kids for about 20-30 minutes instead of hours. You might want to do something like that with the server so everyone doesn't have to 'start from scratch' for very long (we were level 15 & building rafts within 10-15 minutes of starting on this current server to give you an idea of leveling speed).

Huh, something to consider, for sure. We may give 'er a go soon.

Hopefully folks here would be compelled to try it out and team up.

You should also be able to export your character locally, then switch the server then import the character to the new map then save him server side.

I've modified the server to improve the beacon drops, which means no more medium crop plot, compass and water jar blueprints, and high end gear will be more prevalent. Also bumped up the difficulty slightly which should entail an increase in creatures and their levels.
