Just finished reading this one:

Cloister, TJ Slee (volume II of the Charlie Jones series)

http://www.amazon.com/T-J-Slee/e/B01BO85YJI/ref=dp_byline_cont_book_1

And it's FREE this weekend! I reviewed the first one here, gave it 4/5 stars

You don't need to have read the first to enjoy this one!

Plot: (from the blurb, no spoilers)

Of course, you know it's not going to be just another day at the convent when the Archbishop calls you and starts the conversation with, "Sister Jones, is it true you used to work for the Security Service?"

Pope Michael the First is visiting Sydney, and Charlie Jones gets pulled out of the sanctuary she's been sheltering in for two years, to work on his security. But God does this stuff all the time, right? Sends the old man out into the desert to kill his only son? Gives a cheeky preacher a taste of life in the belly of a whale, see how he likes that. God's sitting up there going, 'Oh, right. Charlie Jones thinks she can be a nun? We'll see about that. Worldly temptations, check. Insurmountable obstacles big enough to break her spirit forever, yep, check. More worldly temptations, double check. OK girl, show me what you got.'

The main character is more of an anti-heroine than a hero, an ex-security service agent who quit and joined the Mercy Sisters and then gets brought back by the Church to act as police liaison because of a plot to kill the Pope.

Same fast paced, dialogue driven action. I'm a big fan of this writer and this one delivers too. In fact I enjoyed it more than the first because the plot was more straightforward and it was a quick, enjoyable read, perfect for the Easter holiday.

How do you find these easily? Is there a search filter on Amazon that gives you a list of freebies or do you just browse through the $3.99 or lower monthly deal books until you spot one?

Kindle of course doesnt make it easy to find the free books (nothing in it for them) so I use:

http://www.jungle-search.com/US/

When I'm looking for a new book and just plug in my favourite authors and see what comes up.

I just ran it and found there are 72,000 books available free today (186 in military history... like this one).

Thanks to you I just found this one is free this weekend!!

I've read it but have sent the link to friends...

This is a link a friend of mine uses to find free books on for the Kindle. There are a lot of them and even using the topic links on the left only filters so much, though some give you sub filters as well:
