but there isn't exactly much I want that I don't already have, mostly it's just replacing what has been lost and/or scratched too badly
This has also been the case with me. Actually the majority of my CD purchases over the past 5 years have been movie and tv show soundtracks.

Well most of my slow down in music also coincided with my kids jamming every bit of spare change into the cd player in the car, and since i can't just take the cd player out, i'd have to take out the entire center console to attempt to fix it, I just have gone without. It'a amazing how many kids do that. It's seems like that happens to a lot of people. For the last few years I have found a lot of good CD's at garage sales. I have been turned off of buying music on line. Years ago I was buying 99 cent songs off of the legal Napster site. One day they sent an e-mail saying they were being sold to Rhapsody and that I needed to convert my files to MP3s. Well, I screwed up and didn't get it done in time. Now Rhapsody wants me to pay again in order to make the songs playable. My mistake, but from now on I want a damn hard copy.

For the last several years, I've been solely using Amazon\online for all of my music. I think I went 100% digital once I had my second CD folder stolen back in early 2000's.
For myself the convenience is 10x better than with physical data. I don't even remember the last time I used a CD player lol, I will never go back.

Spotify. Who knows what other ways of listening to music will come to us in the future, but for now I sure like the idea of having a huge collection of music available to me anytime anywhere.
The issue is not p*ssy. The issue is monkey.

I buy an a average of one CD a year now. I used to buy 10-15 a year, but not much is catching my attention anymore. I burn a lot of them onto my PC and I just bought a 10 year old Jeep Grand Cherokee with a 6 disc CD changer so now I have something to do with them again...lol.
Other than that I don't really buy music. I have Sirius/XM for my Jeep TJ, and I listen to Pandora where I can listen to the style of music I want at any time.
