The plan for Easter Sunday was to make a relaxing bicycle tour at the shores of Lake Constance, with a visit or two at a beer garden. And an ice cream parlour.
Well, that was
my plan anyhow... Turned out
She_who_must_be_obeyed had a
slightly different idea...
I'm still fuzzy on the details (probably 'cause I got kicked out of bed in the middle of the night) but there wasn't a lake. Nor a beer garden.
Well, there actually
was a lake. Frozen. At 2.000m altitude. And the beer garden was the
Wiesbadener Htte, 2443m. And a couple of hours away...
Walking on the frozen
Silvretta barrier lake,
Montafon region in Austria. The peak is the "
Hohes Rad" at ~2.900m.
View towards the "
Kleine Schattenspitze", ~2.800m. Our route would lead us up the vallery to the left.
Up that valley leads a path to the
Rote Furka and the
Silvretta or
Saarbrcker Htte refuges
Southern face of the
Hohe RadPiz Buin (3.312m) in the distance, right on the border between Switzerland and Austria. I've been wanting to climb that peak for years. But not with ice and snow. Maybe this summer...
Silvrettahorn (to the left) and
Schattenspitze (both ~3.200m)
Aaaand finally, view from the
Wiesbadener Htte
