Do you have a favorite quality setting when not using RAW?

My camera has jpeg compression settings called Basic, Normal, Fine and Super Fine.

I typically use Fine with a 4608 x 3456 image size, resulting in a file of about 5.5 - 8 MB depending on the complexity in the image.

This provides an image without too much in the way of those little jpeg compression block artifacts that make doing any post processing a challenge.

As low compression as can be. Storage is cheap, detail lost can't be bought.

Like RS mention, with the new cameras using SD cards instead of CF cards storage is cheap. I have 2 32mb cards for each camera. I'll use RAW & FINE for my landscape shots but when I'm just shooting jets I shoot fine

I shoot JPEG and RAW. Fine is as high as it will go when shooting both. Sometimes for grins I will shoot just JPEG which goes to extra fine for a multi shot HDR. A fine JPEG can go over 20Mb easily on the A7RII.

Thanks folks. By the way, I am steadily learning more about this Canon EOS Rebel T2i by watching tutorials and trying settings. I have decided to start with "Creative Auto" which controls a lot of the settings but allows me to experiment with others. This way I can still get good results as I learn.
