Most people like either cats OR dogs; rarely both. I like both, each for their own nature. I would have a cat, if I had an animal, but I always got on well with all sorts of dogs (except one or two, which had obviously had VERY bad experiences with men - which is not their fault).
Cats seem to have a bad public relations. They are said to be unsocial - that is not true at all. Look at this one:

Olham, an amazing nature for a cat. It's as though the cat saw the boy as one of it's litter which is quite possible since the boy and the cat were introduced when the boy was just a baby. It is possible the cat has a motherly nature.

Sounds like you also think, cats are non-social, aloof natures. That is not true - I knew many cats in my life.
Cats are different to dogs, which have a pack nature and like to either have a leader, or be the leader. The cat has a more individual, autonomous character. You cannot really make a cat do things which she just doesn't like to do - while a dog is a follower to the leader - a dog might bear a lot for him/her.
But individuality and autonomy do not mean being un-social. Cats also need love, and when they love you, they also give you love. Only in their own, catsy way.
This cat "belongs" to a lady who is a piano teacher. The cat must have watched her playing many times. And now she tries to do the same thing that her lady always does. I can't help it - I love them!
