I never get tired of watching submarines coming up for air (even though this one does not need to do so):

I wiki USS Hartford and I am surprised they didn't have another accident while coming up through the iceberg.

It already had 2 Captain in command of it that were relieved of duty:

Yeah, because there are *so* many ships to run into that far up in the Arctic...

Who remembers Ice Station Zebra
The scene where the sub breaks through the ice was pretty cool

While a good film and I really enjoyed it, I loved the book much more, but realised the sabotage in the book would not have translated as well on to the big screen.

I have seen the movie a dozen times but never read the book.

What was different in the book?

The sabotage mainly, a different method was used to try and knock out the submarine, had a similar effect/end result as the flooding in the film in that the sub could not power it's self back to the surface and the crew were being overcome by something...

read the book smile

I've read a lot of Alistair Maclean's books and have really enjoyed them, also a lot of them have been turned into very good films over the years.

Little trivia question for you. Name the only actor who appeared in both "Firefox" and "Dune".
