Well, just getting into flight sims, trying to find the right one for me.
I've tried War Thunder and Il2 1946, because I like WWII planes but I want some type of narrative as well.
Everyone says WOFF has the best campaign. I wish there was a profile for the X55 joystick somewhere...
I really haven't played that much, just getting a feel for things and learning slowly.
Anywhoo, cheers! Thanks for the welcome!
I'll agree with what Robert_Wiggins says. And I'll add that you can get all the help you need here, it's a really great and congenial
(and occasionally a bit Barmy) group of simmers here. Criminee, I hardly have time to get in the air, I just hang out here for the fun and camaraderie. And the devs are handy, too, over in the tech support forum, and they moderate and participate in this main forum as well.
To me, WOFF is a work of art. If you've flown much at all, I think you'll agree that the scenery and sense of immersion is second to none. My first few missions, which involved no combat at all, I couldn't believe how much I got lost in the experience. Just trying to maintain my position, keep an eye out for trouble, figure out where in God's green earth I was - if I didn't have a flight leader, I'd have never gotten back. It amazes me what these guys did in these primitive machines.
And as to navigation, one of our dear fellows here, RAF_Louvert, has taken great pains and many hours compiling detailed maps of the WOFF world for various times in the war - if you get serious with this, they are a "must have". Print'em out or use a second screen and fly the way they did. I try to fly without any on-screen aids, but I'm sure when I get into real combat there are some accomodations to being on a screen that I may have to make. Like we've said, just ask.
Sorry I can't help you with the X55 - I'm using an X52. If you don't have it already, it
really helps to get a head tracker such as TrackIR. Rudder pedals are right behind that.
Good luck & hope to see you around!
