I like what I'm seeing so far... got the game last night.
Nice scenery, and game play is as good if not better than the previous title Operation Star.
Control and the orders GUI has been improved.

Russian troops mounted on KV's on the move...

Nice shots Trooper.I don't know of any other game of this type that has so much detail in it.

I'm getting the game soon, hopefully I won't get so bogged down with the UI as I did with GTOS.

Awesome! Beautiful pictures. I hope to wade into GTOS a little more here soon. Still intimidated but fascinated. There's some pretty good youtube tutorials out there.

Continued... German defensive positions have been identified, the Soviets have dismounted and have prepared a smokescreen to cover their troops in the advance.

Off to the flank there is a surprise waiting...

Do continue.

Continued...

The gun team settle down to engaging Russian infantry from the flank as they approach their dug in comrades.
However, they have been spotted...

The two KV's have flanked the German gun position using the dead ground to the left... as they come into view the gun team frantically
drag their gun round to face the new threat.

Shots are exchanged...

ON target!

That damned gun has been the bane of my existence in that tutorial mission. No matter how many times I think I've knocked it out, as soon as I turn my tanks around to attack the main objective some more squareheads jump out of their trenches and man the thing again. I've tried parking a tank next to the gun to pick off anyone who might still be alive in the area but the tankers never spot anyone. If I order them to unbutton, the commander takes a round in the head every single time.

I've yet to win the scenario.

That's good to hear mugwump, I can't seem to win this tutorial mission yet either, but it sure is fun.

I finally beat it but it took me a half dozen tries. I held the infantry in defensive positions on the reverse of the slope and then sent both tanks to deal with the gun. Once the gun was out of commission, I had the tanks physically run over the entrenchment a and the gun itself. That killed off most of the infantry supporting the gun. The rest tried to crawl away but I kept the tanks there until I was sure there was nobody left to man the gun. Once that was done, it was easy to move the tanks towards the objective and then have them stand off and shoot it up. After the defenders were pinned, I sent the infantry in and it was all over.

The battle continues...

The gun position and supporting troop trenches are engaged by both KV's...

The gun position is raked by machine gun fire as the lead tank approaches the position. The only man left alive from the gun crew
bravely attempts to man the gun despite the murderous fire!

His luck holds! The gun is still loaded and workable... Despite his wounds, at almost point blank range he scores a hit on the KV.

'112' grinds to a halt... but they are also lucky. Despite being hit at close range, the tank is only immobilized... they are still in the fight!

'112' still continues the fight with MG fire on the gun position while the loader frantically rams another round into the breech...
Meanwhile KV '111' is homing on to the position, concentrating his fire at the supporting infantry trenches.

Casualties mount as the Germans start to panic...

At the same time, KV '112' fires HE at the gun pit...

This time, the German gunners bravery is not enough as his luck runs out... the gun is silenced.

The final sequence to this mission...

Meanwhile, over at the initial Soviet infantry objective, the troops are advancing against stiff German resistance, but press doggedly on!

KV '111', having assisted in the destruction of the AT gun position, leaves the immobilized '112' and races across the fields and down into the gully next to the German infantry position.
The struggling Russian infantry attack has stalled!

The KV bursts out of the gully, in time to see over confident German troops, out of their trenches and mounting a counter attack...

'111' charges straight at the attacking and now very vulnerable Germans.

The effect is immediate... casualties mount and men begin to break and run.

Soviet infantry see their chance and renew the attack!

The Germans, now pressed from both sides scatter... (note the Russian weapon carried by the German infantryman, a nice touch)

The day is ours... URRAH!

The battle won!... This sequence of pictures is from the attack Training mission... Played it twice, first time let the AI run with it and achieved victory.
The second time (with these pictures) I treated it like a normal mission and took control, again a victory...

Finally, back at the German gun position, the KV crew get on with more pressing chores... there are many more battles to fight!
