I came across Emergency 51 while channel surfing. Loved this show as a kid. Made me kinda laugh today. Funny to see how stuff was handled pre 911 days.

I think it would be easier to list 70s TV shows that were NOT cheesy. smile

I had an Emergency board game I think.

Yes! This one:

I wasn't even a teenager when I watched this show but I liked it. I can't imagine my daughters watching something like this today.

Pre-AIDS days too.

No gloves or masks. Got pinched by a junkie's needle? Nah, no worries...it's just a prick.

I love how the IV bottle were actually glass. Everybody got IV ringer D5W (whatever that is) when they came in. Nobody had to sit at the desk (while in agony) giving your insurance info over. All the doctors wore ties. The old nurse outfits (yeah baby). I just had a good laugh at this today.

Oh, and they always had the machine that went "ping".

I just finished watching an episode on MeTV. The one where there is a plane crashed in the top of a tree, so they climb up it.

You don't want your doctors to wear ties. They are germ magnets when dealing with patients.

I'm a crappy pilot, but one hell of a shot.

Censored

Look for me on Twitter, Instagram, Facebook or Tic Toc...or anywhere you may frequent, besides SimHq, on the Global Scam Net. Aka, the internet.
I am not there, never have been or ever will be, but the fruitless search may be more gratifying then the "content" you might otherwise be exposed to.

Some dramas from the 70's are ok and still hold up quite well today like "The Rockford Files" but all of the sitcoms are now unwatchable for me.

Why was overacting so common back then? Did tv show producers feel that everything had to be exaggerated and theatrical?

I notice that the dialogue seems a lot slower too. The shows seemed slower because the quick scene editing thing hadn't become the rage yet. There seemed to be a melon collie feel to every show in the 70's. Then there was the coming of T & A and wiggle television, i.e. Three's Company.

One Adam 12. See the boy with the funny dog. Reports of silver cyclops chasing boy and dog down alley. One Adam 12, over.

The GONG SHOW: Needless to say this act didn't make the western time zone and was cut after the first airing in 1977.
