IC made a mistake dropping support for the DX10/11 COD game engine for the DX9 BOS game engine. COD would have already had the BOB theatre, BOM theatre, and well on the way with a likely MED theatre, and a game capable of supporting VR. Not to mention a game well suited for extremely talented mod teams like TEAM FUSIAN. It's too bad inside politics, and listening to the whining in the forums from those that couldn't see CODs potential helped kill dev support.
That said, there is nothing to stop IC from reimplementing COD support when it dawns on them that VR is the future of gaming and flight sims.
