I just bought this and spent a while geting my HOTAS set up.
Now I tried the quick mission or whatever it's called and I can't get the ac up for the life of me.

She keeps somersaulting.

I try taking off with low throttle, somersault, high throttle ,somersault, bloody medium throttle, somersault.

I checked my control surfaces, tried with prop pitch low and high, flaps ar edown of course.
This sim makes Battle Of Stalingrad look like a Playstation flying game.

I've had 22 tries and decided to shut the thing down to save my sanity.

I'm using a CH HOTAS btw.
Maybe this sim is flaky with the CH HOTAS?

I actually bought this thinking it would be not as demanding as the other sims.
Boy ,ws I wrong.

Now in a crappy mood again, only flight sims make me feel like poo.
I want to like them but they are like your worst ex.

Tease you then put you down.

Back to driving racing cars.....

Flight sims are like narcissist people.

Putting on Heavy Horses, Tull for a calming down.

P.S. There is definately something wrong with the elevator axis.

It just doesn't do anything to the plane in this sim.(just tried again and somersaulted all over the place).

Just to get this out of the way, I assume you have released the wheel brakes? (if text warnings are turned off, there is no indication of the brakes being on or off).

I don't know if this is good practice in reality, but I push the throttle gently to about halfway until the tail lifts, and then gradually go to full throttle. It's still tricky to balance the nose, but it gets me off the ground 90% of the time.

Undercarriage lever a bit sticky was it, Sir?

OK.
I was putting the dam flaps down after watching a you tube instructing to do this bah.
I also added a little elevation trim.
Taking off every time now though my instructor tells me I'm treating my kite a bit rough.

At least she's up squire.

Had a three hour session and worked on taking off and landing.
Still bumping the craft taking off and did not make a single landing.
Back to it tomorrow.

Good luck old bean, I've had the sim since it came out originally and I can't recall ever getting the darn things on the ground again in one piece (not that I've had the luck of surviving any sorties confronting the enemy anyway....)

Wizard prang old boy! biggrin

Well, I've had text turned off and releasing the brakes via hitting the two keys worked well on the low level bombing intercept mission.

For landing, maybe this will help.

Airspeed with gear down 120 - aircraft vibrates over 140kts.
Flaps down on final and slow to 100-110.
At threshold of field 100kts
Prior to flare - throttle to idle and flaps UP
Hold the flare and let the aircraft settle around 80kts and hold back pressure while tapping brakes.

Lots of wing area on the Spit and with flaps down she will FLLLLOOOAAATTTT down the field.

I mostly fly the Spit but the same has worked on the Hurri, except I do not raise the flaps.

Hope this helps.
