Mac deserves what it gets in this lawsuit - they had a chance to correct the issue and they chose to ignore it and brush it off with a "sorry some customers didn't get what they expected" apology. The product will probably be discontinued due to this. Piss poor management going on here, they had a potential cash cow product on their hands and completely blew it to bad QC

From one of the links,
"Now, a man in California is looking to get $5 million in damages from the company for himself and 40 other consumers involved in the suit, all because of the chain's claim that the sticks are "100 percent real cheese" and "real mozzarella," according to Law360."
Yes because we all know that 5 million is a reasonable recompense for getting fried sticks with fake mozzarella.
I wonder which blood sucking opportunist law firm took his case?

In fairness to McDonald's, those advertising tricks are done for all fast food chains and even some restaurants.

There's a difference between photography tricks and outright deceiving customers. The sticks are either empty or are not using actual mozzarella cheese.
I think the attempt at $5mil is outrageous but do you think Mac would move for a $1 lawsuit to cover the actual cost of the deceitful food?
Just because it's cheap doesn't make stealing acceptable - paying for something for a product and receiving something different from what you ordered always has been and will remain a form of theft.

Actually, as fast food restaurants go, McDonald's is doing quite better financially than other chains.
Until this lawsuit was brought, their stocks were rising and they even reported a better than expected earnings for last quarter, which no other franchise did.
Last time I saw a McDonald's menu, it seems very limited. Except for the Big Mac, everything else is a quarter pounder with different ingredients. Then the McChiken and the fish filet sandwich, plus chicken nuggets. Breakfast items now fill up the rest.
None of that would interest me, and I would look elsewhere, even if I was hungry.
#4224960 - 02/03/1606:26 PMRe: Class action lawsuit against McNasty, ooops, I meant McDonald's, over Mozzarella Sticks...
[Re: PanzerMeyer]
It costs a great deal of $ for the franchisee to keep all the ingredients necessary to make all those items on hand.
Then some of the items don't sell well, the ingredients spoils and goes to waste.
McDonald's and many other fast food chains are not doing well for this reason: too many menu items requiring too high of an overhead cost to keep those ingredients on hand and resulting in a lot of $$$$ lost due to spoiled and wasted ingredients.
Have you look at Pizza Hut's menu lately?
Absurd!
I remember when they only had thin pizza and pan pizza and salads. No breadsticks. No wings. No stuffed pizza or special crust pizza or whatever.
Same for Taco Bell menu! I don't know how the folks who work there preparing the food can remember what goes in every menu item and to be able to make it fast and accurately when it gets busy.

Reminds me of the scene in 'Falling Down' with Michael Douglas when he goes into the local Whammy Burger and compares the picture of a burger on the display wall and with what he unwraps at the counter. "Can anyone tell me what's wrong with this picture?"
The last time I went to McDonald's it was only to take a dump.
EDIT: What the heck. Here's the scene.

No buffet here. I haven't seen a Pizza Hut buffet here in 20 years.
The Pizza Hut here are all little store front with delivery only or there are a few that are combined Taco Bell/Pizza Hut stores with dine in but the pizzas are still to go only.

I don't eat a McDonald's very much, but you know the Artisan Grilled Chicken is 370 calories and 20g of protein. You can't beat that, and actually is tasty.

Darn, it's been so long since I have eaten at McDonald's, and I wasn't aware that they had 24/7 breakfast now. In fact that was the reason that I quit even trying to buy any of their food. I would be in the mood for a sausage and egg breakfast sandwich and invariably would miss the 10 AM cut off.
I do still occasionally get a cup of coffee in the drive through since their coffee is decent, always hot, and reasonably priced. The rest of their menu doesn't interest me--especially their burgers and fries.
And yes, 5 million for forty greedy people and an even greedier lawyer for some missing cheese is pretty ridiculous. McDonald's claims that the cheese most likely melted out during the cooking process and should have never been served. They also promised to rectify the situation, which seems reasonable. However, since the suit was filed in the Socialist Republic of California, it's got a chance.
Cheers

It's amazing how much attention she is getting for making such an absurd demand. This current day 24/7 news media coverage and internet world must be heaven for narcissists.

The mozzarella sticks are like $1 for 3 in an order?
So you get a bad batch? Just ask them to remake it.
To sue for $5 million or even $500 or $50 over it is just absurd and frivolous.

so heres a novel idea .... maybe the "time in fryer guideline" is to long and the cheese just melted? you can see the inside of all of them have gone gooey and their all rectangular, so there WAS something in there!

I still eat McD's chicken nuggets and fries about once every other month. I dont eat anything else there but they still have the best nuggets. I long for the days of the pink stuff though. Those were 10x better than the current nuggets they have.
Ohh man, there have been actually so many lawsuits against Mcdonalds over the last 10 years, not just in US, but in general, world. I remember that i read about a case from France i think, a chef from a local restaurant went to eat something to Mcdonalds as he had no time. He filled a suit against them, because their food is not meant to be eaten, as it got taste that doesn't resemble the taste of normal food. Also the happymeal that didn't make the man happy, case.

i actually see cheese in all those pictures, its avery thin layer, so either it was too hot and got stuck to the bread thing, or it was too little, my guess is on both....now if its not muzzarella i didnt even know you need a rule to call something muzzarella

I'm not sure about "mozzarella" but there are several food and drink names that are protected trademarks in Europe such as "Cognac" and "Turron". The one US example I can think of is "Bourbon". My understanding is that a manufacturer cannot use the name "Bourbon" unless it was actually distilled in Kentucky.

I've read on the internet more about this case. One thing I can say that is a very tricky subject. We may relate this to some international lawsuits.

Exhibit A: I never knew there was a Federal Guideline for mozzarella.
Exhibit B: Absurd!
I've read all of the posts from "CG2015" and the writing style is amazingly similar to that of NoFlyBoy. Hmm...

I'd add that anyone who orders mozzarella sticks at McDonald's pretty much deserves what they get.
I don't think I could ever be disappointed with mozzarella sticks from McDonald's because that's a disaster. Say it out loud three times slowly: McDonald's Mozzarella Sticks. Um, no.
This is a chain that serves a passable hamburger at a cheap price, a fish sandwich that's usually dry as drywall for a dollar, and chicken nuggets as a side order. Fries are really good.
Not to say I don't order the fish sandwich. And yes, I know the McRib sandwich is of dubious ingredients, but I don't care. It could be Baby Harp Seal meat and I'd order it.
