Hello, Join us today for some Vietnam action. 4PM Eastern time. In addition to the Unsung mod, we are now using the Hueys. http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=28841 I've made new versions of my existing missions to utilize the Huey. I've also quickly made a new mission. Hopefully adlabs will be able to upload them, after I submit them to him.

Yep, I'm here and can upload. Just got the Hueys downloaded, and I'm going to look at making a mission, myself.

Dont think of it as being vastly outnumbered ... but just having a large target selection.
The only thing more accurate than incoming fire, is incoming friendly fire
Tracers work BOTH ways...

I played a few guest rounds with a clan that uses this mod. Just for ideas sake, I'll describe how theirs went.
Basically, you started at base where you'd get briefed. They had dedicated guys who flew choppers. They'd ferry to the LZ but also have CAS Hueys as well to use throughout the mission (so they always had something to do). One person would be Zeus and lay out an entire area to patrol, with triggers for ambushes throughout, populate villages, etc, and then he'd brief a general plan for where we'd start and where we'd be extracted. The plan would usually revolve around checking out a few villages, destroying any caches, and basically patrolling a set area from A to B, etc. Not a single objective, but many tiers of contact all along the way.
From what I could gather, the triggers were set in a way that the enemy would hunt you if they heard sound or were informed by other squads. So even though the person playing Zeus would set the original locations of the enemy, it all was very random in how it played out. Noise discipline was big. A lot of tension.
Once in contact, they'd call in CAS if needed, retreat if needed, call in reinforcements (re-spawned guys) when needed, etc. It was fluid and guys who died weren't just stuck waiting 30 minutes as they'd be part of the next wave if the commander called it in.
It was probably the most immersive experience I've had in ARMA.
But again, I've never used the editor and such a scenario may not be viable for our sessions. Just thinking out loud. Not pressuring anyone to do things a certain way.

Bonchie, I used the editor in Iron Front. Similar system. It's is one of the easiest to build a mission for. Place units, way points, the occasional trigger. It's been a while since I've put one together, but if you give it a go and get stuck I'm sure many of us on the forums will give you a hand.

The problem with this Huey pack, is that there are so many different versions out there. I was using the Huey pack to investigate mods etc. Of course, I link the medium utility helos and you guys download them and adlabs puts them on the server. Naturally, I keep my old version and make missions with them. <sigh> Glad it's sorted out. Nice playing with you guys again.

Yep, a great session, in spite of a few hiccups today (hiccups which were actually useful, from my perspective).
Thanks everybody!

I very much enjoyed last night, and thanks for the effort that went into creating the missions. Three things I learned: don't lead a squad, don't fly a helicopter and don't throw grenades. Other than that, I'm fine.
By the way, the crashed crew rescue mission is nice. Being lost in the jungle and hearing that distinctive sound of a Huey landing somewhere nearby is very atmospheric.
