I guess this is the right place since Ark is a game about prisoners on a dinosaur planet?

Anyways. For those who sent me PMs about getting into the server. Seems the 231.7 patch messed up the server. The server lists as being up but I can not connect to it since yesterday. :/

Might be a port issue. Was able to connect with this.

85.190.153.42:25001

You can try this as well.

Ok, that was a lot of fun. I know Master must have gotten a little bored with Snappy and my OCD with building houses. Anyway, I had a few hiccups while playing the game but I am convinced it occurred while a background task spun up. Otherwise seemed decently smooth. Needs work but a lot of fun.

Rule 1. Don't hit the house
Rule 2. Poop goes in the box outside

The worst part about this game is the dedicated server is a piece of crap and their server / server browser does not communicate well. Been restarting the server for the past 2 hours giving it about 45 min to broadcast it is online. Nothing. Cant even join through the boot strap because steam doesnt think the server is online even though the dedicated server says it is.

Wouldnt be an issue if ark had a direct ip join function but it doesnt. The server has to be onthe server list to join it. uhhhhhggggghhhrrrrrrahaaaaaaahahhhhhhh

Had an interesting encounter with a Bronto who eventually walked up rocks near our place and proceeded to just stand half on the rocks and half on our house.

Not good.

I shot it with an arrow and high tailed it across the river.

He would throw temper tantrums out in forest and cause many trees to topple only to return to our house periodically. When I went back to see if he was still mad at me, I could see that he was terribly bloody.
Aha. The large rock he was originally standing on had previously been destroyed so I threw a wood-spike wall down in it's place. Amazingly, the rock grew back but the spikes were embedded in it. The dino was taking damage as he tried to get to our house and eventually died. It was fairly intense.

Had a nice evening a little later on.

Quiet night.

The game has some pretty interesting comedy moments, as well.

Yes, that randomly happened right before disconnecting.

So master, The game was patched Friday night and I assume this is why you had to restart. Have you seen any beacons since the restart? Snap and I haven't.

I spent all saturday with Jima building our new base. Took forever to gather all the stone and wood for that new building. But now that I think about it... no we didnt see any beacons all saturday which is strange to say the least.

I wonder what is up with that?

I would like to complement ya'll on that behemoth. I hate to say, I go over and open/close the door every once in a while (that sound is awesome).

Tamed a trike last night. Read about it on the wiki afterward and found out it is best for gathering berries. Crap. And the saddle takes 197 hide...

eek2

After helping Snap convert my thatch crap to stone, I don't even want to contemplate how much stone that took.

A lot lol that is why all the center level is made of wood. But if you have a bunch of dinos as pack animals and metal picks it is easy to gather and carry back.

I played the game for months without taming dinos because I didnt see the point in it. But once you tame your first one and you see how much easier the game is with them then you begin to understand why people tame so many.

So the trike took a while to tame. He is currently level 4. If I want to take him out for combat (if I even should) what level should he be? If I take him out should I ride him during combat or dismount?

The narc arrows definitely made bringing him down easy.

Ride him around gathering for a while and he should level up a few times. You should get him to 15-20 before you start hunting with him. Most of those large dinos cant run if they get attacked. Also be prepared to jump off him and defend.

Not sure if this is what we have run into since your server reboot...

v231.7

Fixed issue where you could accidentally get unboarded from Procop Pouch on terrain slopes
Fixed issue where you could unboard through house-boat/dino-platform walls
Made Cages give no damage to punching prisoners
Made "Accept Tribe Invitation" require holding the Action Wheel option, rather than Activation Quick-Press (was too easy to trick enemies into accidentally joining your Tribe).
+25% Bronto base HP and +20% on its platform-saddle Armor Rating
Base HP of Ptero and Arg +20% each
Ptero attack damage +25% and its barrel roll damage by 40%
Carno Head Butt Damage +25%
Harvesting a Giganotosaurus now gives mostly prime meat (and killing it gives much more XP)
New server option to prevent spawning of Loot crates (artifact creates will still spawn): WindowsServer\Game.ini (or LinuxServer) [/script/shootergame.shootergamemode] bDisableLootCrates=true

So that should be fixed now.

One thing I have found very annoying is the whole falling through floors while sleeping bug. Wish they would fix that.

Snap, I confirmed it last night both via the wiki and in practice. The metal pickaxe does harvest more metal.
