I rewatched the first few episodes after initially finding the show kind of dull

But I gotta say, the second time around (3 episodes) this is not bad at all!
Ive not read the books so I dont have that attachment (though watching the show makes me interested) and I will inevitable compare this to the new BGS which I enjoyed greatly because it filled a vacuum of longing for decent sci-fi.

Where BSG still felt a bit over-the-top though, this one so far feels very realistic and "down-to-earth". At least so far, Ive heard big stuff happens later in the books.

I have a bit of an issue with some of the characters feeling very cliche and some of the dialog makes me cringe.
But overall, its a damn good sci-fi show and from being indifferent im now a real fan of it!

Again though, im only a few episodes in so my opinions might change.

I've read every book in "The Expanse" so far, and I have to say that the first 4 episodes are pretty faithful. One problem is in the books, Krisjen Avasarala doesn't appear until book 2 (Caliban's War), but without her (representing Earth) you don't get as much of an idea of the tension between Earth, Mars, the Belt, and the Outer Planets. So in reality it's not much different than Peter Jackson rearranging the LOTR trilogy for either continuity or to show things that are going on at the same time but in widely spaced locations (and in 2 novels.)

Like with almost any TV series or movie, you don't get a lot of the background that's in books. A book might only be 25% dialog, the rest of the words tell you what the dialog doesn't. Without a narrator doing voiceovers you won't get most of that info. Reading the books would probably help, and even if you don't watch the series they're ENORMOUSLY enjoyable books IMO. It's definitely a dirty future a la Firefly.

Amos isn't cast the way I'd expect from reading the books, he's too young and doesn't look like he's had the experiences the books' Amos has. Neither is Miller, he's also too young. World-weary and jaded enough, but too young. Holden, Naomi, and Alex don't clash with how I pictured them from the books.

I hope they give it a full season, maybe even 2, to draw people in. The story is good enough that I think it could bring back a lot of people who were disgusted with the way SyFy had gone, if they'll just keep it on life support as necessary until that happens.

"The Expanse" season 2 has been announced.

Ill even change my previous statement and say that this is not only good but brilliant!

Tech feels pretty realistic, the visuals and audio is good and the way they treat space and travel feels convincing.
And I love the slight cyberpunk feel following Miller around smile

Im happy to heat that there will be another season, I only hope enough people appreciate this show so we can see it finished.
And I absolutely have to check out the books.

And Ill have to add that for a TV show, theres some really good acting going on.
Some of the characters and dialog are pretty cliche but its well delivered, I cant say anything else.

This is growing on me fast and have the potential of becoming the best damn show ive seen, if things keep up like this!
