Remember the line in Dirty Harry?

Why do they call you Dirty Harry, asks his new partner.

Callahan replies every dirty job that comes along.

I came across a movie trailer for a western film starring Scott Eastwood, Clint Eastwood's son.

I didn't even know he had a son.

Clint is one of my favorite actor and aside from the public knowledge that at one time he was with that alien looking Sandra Locke and he was also Mayor of Carmel, I haven't paid attention to his private life.

Well, Scott Eastwood is either sibling or paternal sibling or half sibling with some of these:

Quote:
Children (source: WIKI)

with Roxanne Tunis:
Kimber Eastwood (b. 1964)
with Maggie Johnson:
Kyle Eastwood (b. 1968)
Alison Eastwood (b. 1972)
Conceived during filming of Dirty Harry (source: IMDB)
with Jacelyn Reeves:
Scott Eastwood (b. 1986)
Kathryn Eastwood (b. 1988)
with Frances Fisher:
Francesca Eastwood (b. 1993)
with Dina Eastwood:
Morgan Eastwood (b. 1996)

Funny, I don't even know who those women he fathered his children with are and also funny he didn't have any kids with Sondra Locke the 14 years they were together.

Clint, Clint, Clint.

I can see a .44 Magnum is not the only thing he has been shooting straight with.

Remember the other line in The Enforcer when Tyne Daly asks him why he carries that .44 Magnum?

She says: Cold, Bold Callahan with his great big .44, why do you carry that cannon?

He replies: So I can hit what I aim at, that's why.

She replies: So I see. It's for the penetration.

More than one son. The other son starred alongside him in a pretty cool movie in the 80's called Honkytonk Man.
Kind of a Hank Williams Sr type character takes his nephew on the road with him in the 30's or 40's(?). Coming of age movie for the boy.
Clint sang again in that one.

This is what's brilliant about Dirty Harry. A character like this would intimidate women- he's quite intense and remorselessly and coldly violent. So there's one thing he does that puts them at ease, and again, you tend to see this in older movies.

He can banter and flirt and use innuendo with women, he's hard on criminals, but still dry and smooth with women, because if he still acted 'in character', that would frighten off women, but flirting lets them know he has another side to him and he's capable and comfortable around women as well.

Also, women pursue him- he doesn't chase after girls, it's the other way around. It's like they show up at his door, they want his attention and he's sort of annoyed that they're bothering him, like he's used to that and gets so much attention with women. So many women, so little time. But he relents, almost indifferently letting them in.

So, Dirty Harry is an all round high value character.

Dirty Harry:
No "love interest". The closest thing to it is a brief conversation with his wounded partner's wife.

The Enforcer:
Sunny. Says, "You're the cop who lives upstairs" then asks him how a woman gets to know him, or something like that. He replies, "Try knocking on the door." She does, they do, then Briggs tells him to "get your pants back on." Later stops her just before she opens his mailbox which has a bomb inside, during which an obviously gay man (earlier time, they could do that in movies) says to him, "The cop who lives upstairs?" Yeah, not gonna happen, buddy.

Magnum Force:
No love interest. Tyne Daly was a partner forced on him very much against his preference. He warms up to her but mostly as a fellow officer. Aside from CG2015's scene they don't get terribly personal. Could they? The scriptwriters remove the possibility with Harry's incredibly bad luck with partners (or maybe Harry's partners' incredibly bad luck, take your pick.)

Sudden Impact:
Sondra Locke. Nothing serious ever comes of it, though. Actually the relationship is more kindred spirits than love interest. Who cares, it was Sondra Locke. sleepy

The Dead Pool:
Isn't that the one where he met Frances Fisher? I've only seen it once (and I'm a big Eastwood fan). I was good when he moved up to the .44 Automag in Sudden Impact (Partner blasts Harry's target with a shotgun saying, "You'll have to strain the remains for fingerprints." Harry replies, "This is the .44 Automag, and if properly used it'll remove the fingerprints."). But when he brought out a harpoon gun I was like, "Check, please."

Don't know why I took this pic a long time ago, but it keeps coming in handy...my three favorite Clint Eastwood movies (middle)...

"Firefox" has a nice extra that digs a little into his personal life (1982), looks like at the time he was taking a break from making babies (his love then was a big black beautiful...airplane). smile

My mistake:
I switched Magnum Force and The Enforcer. Sorry.

Hey, at least it shows I work from memory and not Google.

MarkG, how could you not include "Paint Your Wagon" in your list of Eastwood movies. I know it wasn't a great movie, but it was lots of fun. And with Lee Marvin and Clint having solos it was easily one of the most violent films ever made (nod to Bob Hope, who used that line many years...decades...ago).

Dirty Harry trivia extra credit:
Besides Clint Eastwood, who was in the most Dirty Harry movies. Please include roles.
Hint: This actor/actress appeared in four of the five.

In Magnum Force not only did Harry get Dirty with Sunny, when she made the comment he was her first cop, he made the comment she was his first too. Guess he never had an Asian girl before.

At the end of The Enforcer after Tyne Daly's Inspector Moore was shot and lying on the ground dying and Maxwell still has the Mayor hostage, Harry was going to help her up and carry her to safety.

She says don't concern yourself with me Harry and she puts her hand on his lips.

I've seen The Enforcer a couple of dozen times and each time I see that scene, I get the impression she was in love with him and she wanted to kiss him right before she died.

Actor Albert Popwell , he was the wounded bank robber in the first when Harry said his now world famous' line, the pimp in the 2nd, the Black Panther leader in the 3rd, and Harry's cop friend in the 4th. He did not appear in the Dead Pool.

Not all that funny really. Modern medicine had a hand in it.

Sometimes Scott looks remarkably just like his dad.

Well done, CG2015. A lot of people don't remember him as (as I like to call the character) "I gots to know" because he wasn't credited in the film. I liked his progression...nameless bank robber, stylish pimp, misunderstood but basically respectable black activist (in a good way, I believe...i.e. actually trying to make things better) and eventually trusted police officer and Harry's partner. Unfortunately we all know what that means. goodnight

Symbolic kiss? Almost certainly. Much like a filmmaker expressing a character's sadness by shooting him/her standing next to a rainy window with the shadow of the raindrops becoming tears that only we, the audience, can see. That's why I said that a love interest might have been developing there. But Daly's character insisted that Harry not give her special treatment and that he get the bad guy instead.

I actually liked one aspect of "Pink Cadillac". The scene where he pretended to be a promoter or agent or something, and was wearing the tinted glasses. He looked so much like my father that my wife (who'd only ever seen him at his funeral) said, "Oh my God, that looks just like your dad."

I realized that I only have Dirty Harry in my movie collection, so thanks to this thread I just added Magnum Force. Over the next several months I will complete this collection - well worth it. smile

Heh heh, The Dead Pool is the movie with Jim Carrey in it, isn't it? I might still get it for the sake of completing the collection even if it isn't as good as the other movies. smile

Yes and Llam Neeson. Carrey only has a small role, Neeson has a bigger role but they both weren't the bad guy.

Or get Tightrope instead which was better than The Dead Pool.

Another strange thing about Eastwoods early films, someone pointed out westerns and some of the others is they all featured a rape or attempted rape, think about it.
Hang em High
Pale Rider
High Pains Drifter
Outlaw Josey Wailes
Good the Bad and the Ugly
Any Which Way,one of them anyway.
Seemed to be a bit of a obsession confused

In The Gauntlet too there was a rape scene of Sondra Locke by the 2 male bikers and 1 female biker, owners of the chopper Shockley put a hole in with his S&W 66 .357.

I didn't care for "Sudden Impact" or "The Dead Pool" and stopped my DH collection at "The Enforcer". IMO the best thing about Impact was the .44 Automag (particularly its introduction) and the best thing about "The Dead Pool" was Jim Carey's scene (so stated as to give nothing away to any who might not have seen the movie and may want to).
