The classic quality choice is Victorinox in my opinion. Wenger also make classic Swiss army knives but I've always had Victorinox. Over the past 15 years or so I've had about 3 and they're all as smooth and firm as the day I bought them.
I'd suggest avoiding gimmicky tools like USB sticks and tiny magnifying glasses and stick with the tried and true tools. This will keep the tool compact enough to carry every day, and less of a novelty. Something like the Camper is an extremely versatile knife, and well within budget.

Also make sure it's legal. Here in TX you can carry a pocket knife, folding or not folding but the blade can't be longer than 5 1/2 inches and you can only have it on your premises or in your watercraft or in your car. http://www.knifeup.com/texas-knife-laws/Not sure what a gravity knife is.

A classic example of a gravity knife is carried by paratroopers. The knife is designed for one-handed opening. Although not technically a 'switchblade' because no spring opens it, a gravity knife can be opened one handed in a similar fashion, which is why they get issued to paratroops- it can be used to cut the risers if they are tangled in a tree for example- a flick of the wrist opens the blade when it is unlocked. Here's one type: http://www.atlanticfirearms.com/componen...l.html?Itemid=0
What kind of car is that? What does it matter? When I drive it, I'm Steve McQueen

Well, there are hundreds and it all depends on what he wants/is legally allowed. But, if you want to browse a little, the following brands are good quality:
Kershaw (modern) Ontario (modern) Spyderco (modern) CRKT (modern) Cold Steel (modern) Case (classic) Buck (classic) Great Eastern Cutlery (classic)
And of course Victorinox/Wenger, like JimK's Soldier over there, carrying one myself actually (the Pioneer, which is the "civilian" version if it).

When you're feeling sad, just remember that somewhere in the world, there's someone pushing a door that says "pull".

Also make sure it's legal. I was about to note the same thing. Forgot the details but IIRC the U.S. has a longer blade length standard than in the U.K. In the U.K. IIRC the blades you can carry should satisfy the classification: "utility knife". There was a very nice blade I wanted that comes with a leg strap, unfortunately its length was legal in the U.S. but not in the U.K.

I've had a Leatherman Supertool over over twenty years now, I love it.

I have a Victorinox WorkChamp, and I friggen love the thing. http://www.victorinox.com/global/en/Prod...kChamp/p/0.9064I have done more work with this knife than most people can imagine. I used the saw to clear away tons of dead (albeit small) trees, the metal file I used to sharpen my machete dozens of times while clearing away overgrown brush and then breaking trails. Easily one of the best purchases I've ever made. Very happy with this knife. Only gripe is that the pliers are a little small for real world use, but they do find some utility every once in a while. If pliers are the most important thing, a Leatherman Wave is a very good choice. Otherwise, I like the long locking blade of the WorkChamp by Victorinox It is also about $90, I think if you are serious about a good pocket knife with very high quality and good functions, $90 is going to be about the cheapest. Victorinox does have smaller knives though more close to your price range. One other thing to consider with legality is the "scariness" of a single blade vs a folding swiss army type of knife. Most police officers who aren't insane will probably not take issue with a swiss army knife but might have a problem with spyderco's etc. Of course there are bad police officers everywhere like this guy found out..! Be careful. http://www.japantimes.co.jp/community/20...2/#.VotKIlLxl-4

I've had a Sog Twitch, 2", for a while now. Sharp enough out of the box, thin, light, not too big, pocket clip and the assisted opening is nice. No big deal if it gets washed, mine has gone through plenty of times. Nice price on Amazon. http://www.amazon.com/SOG-Specialty-Kniv...ords=Sog+twitch
