Hi
I have a problem with my desktop at home, and I hope that with your help I can narrow down the potential causes so that I can take the necessary repair action.
Earlier this afternoon I started my PC after about a week of non-use. It started as normal then as I was browsing the PC crashed and I got the blue screen stating something about a crash dump. I restarted in safe mode but I got the blue screen again. Then I chose the repair option but pressing enter to select it did nothing, neither did choosing the option to start Windows normally.
Now my PC does not boot up at all. All I get is the Bios splash screen and the PC does not go any further then that. Pressing options to view startup options, change Bios settings etc does nothing.
Any ideas what could be the problem? A faulty MB perhaps?
Running Windows 7 Home Premium. I'm afraid I have no clue as to the MB model, only that its brand is Gigabyte.
Thanks for any help.

First, try to start the PC without any USB devices connected. Maybe it's just a USB Device that causes trouble.

Otherwise I would start with the RAM, if you have 2x 4GB RAM take one of them out and see if the problem still persists. If so try the other one. Also try different RAM slots. If this doesn't help, swap out the PSU and try another one if possible. I had the same trouble as you have a few times in the past and in most cases it was either defective RAM or a defective PSU. Worth a try is also swaping out the Graphicscard.

In case neither did solve the problem you can reset the BIOS,sometimes it works wonders. It can have many causes, worst case would propably be the MB or the CPU. In one case it was just the power on Button on my PC Case that had a lose contact somewhere, of course I only found out after I tried everything else.. Changing the button was just a work of some minutes.

Thank you. The problem was the RAM stick. I took them out, cleaned the contacts and reinserted and that did the trick.
