So now that the new graphics engine is out, what graphics settings is everyone using? I was expecting a fps gain but I got some stuttering last night. Any tips? Thanks!

I play most of my flight sims on 1 screen, the 3 screens in my sig is mainly for iRacing. Get too low of fps in flight sims with 3 screens for the most part.

First tip - turn "depth of field" option off. It's great for making screenshots but literally murders performance while in outside camera view.

Second tip - shadows, generally, induce quite a hit on frames in this gfx engine and you should spend some time finding the setting which works best for you over cities and forests. Mind you, apart from object shadows set in the left column of options (like in 1.2.16), there's a separate terrain shadows option on the right.

Stuttering is more problematic though. Even people with monster rigs have been reporting different levels of it and nobody knows a 100% tweak which would work on all PC configs out there.

I have depth of field off, thanks for the tip. I also have the dirt filter off as well. I have the flat shadows on box checked that's good right?

What about the visibility bubble slider I have that slid all the way too the right is that too demanding and I should lower it? I need to post a screen of my settings.

I'm also running pretty old drivers, AMD 14.2s I think. Could that have to do with it? My card is older and all my other games run well on these drivers so I didn't update them.

The sliders on the right? Preload radius affects the memory consumption in quite a noticeable way, I run the game on 8 gigs, so had to reduce it somewhat, you might get away with more aggressive setting. Number of trees might have quite an impact too, not because of 3D objects quantity (or CPUs should cope with it allright), but rather because of these not-so-great-optimized shadows. More trees - more shadows - more strain on GPU (I guess that's why ordinary, downtown housing districts in Vegas are the biggest fps killers on Nevada map at the moment).

Flat terrain shadows might be a bit worse looking than non-flat ones, but they certainly save some hefty fps.

Dirt filter is a minor eye-candy setting, with no performance impact whatsoever. You turn it on or off depending on visual preference only.

I have NVidia card, so cannot comment on latest ATI drivers. However, If I still had installer with the old ones (just in case), I would definitely opt for trying out the new ones.

This is good stuff. I will quit lurking and comment. I have a 34 inch wide curved. It looks good most of the time but I get some Horizontal tearing from time to time.
Art J, what about card settings? See my sig for equipment.
Also, do I need to dedicate an amount of memory to the game?
