SimHQ is really showing its older demographics in this thread.
Assuming you've seen my 'Molly Ringwalds' thread on the music board, I do love going out on occasion and even consuming a little alcohol (just enough that when it's time to drive home it's no longer in my system). So I'm not quite the grumpy old homebody yet!
But not on a night when I believe the risks are much higher being taken out by an idiot drunk driver, and it happens all too often around here, not even the rural highways are safe.
I hope I never lose the passion for going out and doing a little partying, it'll just be offset by most evenings like the one I plan to spend tonight, a little quiet snuggling in front of the TV.
Haven't gone out for New Years Eve in many years. Just an old fart that likes to stay home and have some shrimp and a beer or two. Can't this year, still recovering from surgery. My friends that are cops hate this night. The say it's the people that never drink, but do on New Years Eve are the ones that cause the trouble. They over do it, not knowing what the hell they are doing, and boom goes the dynamite. Going to watch football and avoid all the awful New Years shows like the one with Anderson Cooper and Kathy Griffith. Ugh! Who could watch that?
Happy New Year everyone! I've been living in it for some 10 hours and 36 minutes now - 37 - but so far it doesn't feel any different than 2015 did.
There is a theory which states that if ever anyone discovers exactly what the universe is for it will instantly disappear and be replaced by something even more inexplicable. There is another theory which states that this has already happened.
Had a terror warning in Munich tonight. Police closed off two train stations (Munich central station and the one in Pasing). Thankfully, so far nothing has happened. Still not a nice way to celebrate new year's eve.
Why men throw their lives away attacking an armed Witcher... I'll never know. Something wrong with my face?
It's only 9:06 pm here and I am ready to go to sleep.
Getting old. Not going to stay up for midnight.
LOL yes, China is really not the place for Western New Year celebrations. Of course many bars are open and doing something of a countdown when it's almost midnight, but it's not the same as in Europe / Americas / Australia. But, the wife and I are now responsible parents so we didn't want to go there and leave our 2.5 year old daughter. Even though normally we go to bed around 23.30 on weekdays and in the weekends usually far past midnight, last night at around 2200 we were looking at each other with this "How long do we still have to stay awake?"-look.
