Detroit Diesel normally aspirated 16v92's.

Have ran boats with a pair of these that, well, the newer one had OVER 50,000 hrs on it! Pretty damn simple to maintain and do minor replacements stuff on also.

Somebody has to contrast with all this high tech stuff...... neaner

Yep, I sometimes wonder how they stay in business. Got a Vector 4 maybe five years ago, and it still runs, does the job...

I have to third the Kindle ebook. I have 2 readers and 2 fires at this point. My 1st Gen still works, but I got the backlit paperwhite a couple of years ago and haven't looked back. The Fire I use to listen to Howard in the morning while I get ready for work. Truly remarkable devices, and life-changing.

One other item that has simply changed my whole life is my GoPro. I have the Hero3 Silver, it's been through 3 hard years of big winter surf in Hawaii and now I'm stressing it in the freezing waters of Rhode Island and it's still going strong. On a good sized day a month ago the mount ripped off of the board I was riding it on- a Rhode Island board, not my Hawaii boards- and the little orange floaty thing on the back worked as advertised. Time from rip off to recovery was 4:30. I thought it was gone forever there was so much whitewater!

I can only wish I had had these things years and years ago.

Regarding longevity? iPad? Can you change its battery? winkngrin

I had a 1969 Triumph Spitfire, in the 1990ies. While it was maligned and painted bad in almost every respect in all media, it was quite sturdy and never let me down. Of course did the usual maintenance etc.
I still have a 1984 VW Passat (Quantum in the US) Turbodiesel. It just refuses to die, no rust to speak of, still does 110 mph without using much fuel. Nothing to show off with, of course. now 300.000 km (~187,000 miles).

Everything else i can think of is crap, and obviously designed for planned obsolescence. And this is especially true for all electronic devices, if you go beyond four years of use.

My 2003 Mazda MX5-Miata. Since my old 71 Cooper-S died in 1986 cars have been "just transport". I love this little roadster, made driving fun again. Very dependable and simple as well.

North Face clothes and camping gear. Bulletproof stuff that lasts forever.
Duluth Trading Company Firehose pants. Ditto.
1998 Simms Guide Waders. They don't make 'em like that any more. I've had another angler ask me how much I wanted for them. biggrin

LOL!! Had it been the "other thing" you probably would have had to go to the hospital.

Gibbs spray lube.

Works on everything metal, and most plastic.
Doesn't wear off for a year.
Put it on my garage door, lasts for years, even in winter.
Doesn't freeze up.

Greatest thing since a 'Colt'.

I read Snaps Duluth Trading Company thing about the pants.
I wonder how that new shirt is? It's new I think.
I'm tempted. wink

I am/was a Carhartt work pants fan, but they take a while to properly break in... a bit stiff, etc...

The firehose pants look like they would be, but right out of the package they're super soft and warm.
Many more pockets than the Carhartt's, too. Hammer/tool hoops on both hips instead of one side, as well.
They seem to be a bit water resistant out of the package, too, which is nice.

They also make fleece and flannel lined ones for really cold climates, but I don't think I'm gonna get any of those.

Which shirt are you talking about, Murph?

They advertise a new lined shirt on the boob tube.
I think it's new, has a really warm looking black fur type lining, can't tell.
I was looking for a real warm heavy shirt 'thing', I could slap on real quick, like to just run to the garage and back on cold days.
But if it's too expensive, I'll pass.
It would be nice though.

Cause.....we got 'em here now smile it's.....cold.

Summer, I can store it......

Yeah, I was checking out their site and their prices are a little high, but like I said, you get what you pay for. That's what we're talking about, right?

They have a firehose button down shirt that is lined. I think they call it their hanger bender. That looks like it'd be great to throw on as a warm layer for a quick trip to the garage and back.
