I guess Harrison Ford finally got his way... I felt depressed walking out of the theatre after the film ended.

I agree that this was basically a retelling of Ep.IV.

Like the Star Trek movies JJ did, this felt more like a reboot than a continuation of the saga.

When Han was killed by Kylo Ren it was the first time Ive ever felt hatred toward an on screen movie character.

Wow!

$57 million on Thursday, $120+ million on Friday plus international ticket sales, it has already surpassed $250 millions and there is still today and tomorrow to go.

I guess James Cameron's Avatar record is going bye bye.

Hiding in the bushes
After revelation that Kylo Ren is Han's son and seeing their reunion on the Starkiller planet, when Kylo said to Han if he would helped him I already knew what's going to happen. Han "helped" him to overcome the last pieces of the light side in him by giving him the opportunity to be impaled by his saber (although Han had something else in mind obviously). As sad as it was, it was also brilliant and brought at least one "loss part" in the film. Remember how Han reacted? He still looked like he cared for his son, and probably forgave him while falling down...

Oh, and apparently the Stormtroopers have learned how to shoot, and how to avoid sticky situations (after Ren found out that Ray escaped ["GUARDS!"], that 2 Stormtroppers reaction walking down the hallway was hilarious.

Edit: And that Wookie crossbow at last is shown to bring some punch.

Between that lightsaber, the reference to the old Imperial Archives, and the comment that was made about bringing in Clone troops, I'm hoping we'll get another small EU type nod (I personally feel like Kylo Ren's first name being Ben, and being the Big Bad, a la Jacen Solo was a bit of a nod) and see a Wayland- type "secret store room" full of all the Emperor's most secret toys. I'm guessing that will be something explored in the second movie, especially since Luke obviously had the lightsaber in the flashback that Rey saw when she touched it at Maz's.

Saw it this morning. Liked it.

I'm reading the usual complaints about it. It's a rehash of Episode IV. Kylo Ren is a wuss.

I liked it. They needed to reboot the series and part of that was all the illusions to the old movies. Fans of the originals also have the realize they needed to introduce the common themes to a new generation. I'm sure they'll expand things now. I also think Kylo Ren being an immature imitation of Darth Vader was the entire point. He wasn't supposed to be Darth Vader (not yet anyway).

It was a safe movie. Didn't take any chances. But that at least means it didn't go way out in left field like 1-3.

Saw it today, liked it for the most part. Gets a little slow at times. Killing Solo was a waste, and the way it was done made it more so. At least let him go out in a tooth and nail fight, not sucker punched while standing almost at ease. Oh well. I think I'd be really upset if I were a SW uber fan.

I personally felt like it was entirely appropriate. Han was the con artist, smuggler and according to everyone not named George Lucas, shot first. The sucker punch was his thing, a trait which has apparently been passed down, unfortunately to his detriment.

While it might not have been "satisfying" to see him go that way, I actually thought it was appropriate.

Saw this awhile ago, thought it might help fill in some gaps as to what happens between RotJ and The Force Awakens

http://io9.gizmodo.com/everything-we-know-about-star-wars-post-return-of-the-j-1729549100

will contain spoilers if you plan on reading any of the new official books

also found this one sorta giving a little bit on the difference between the resistance and the original Rebellion

Han being killed that way was better than being killed in some suicide attack, some random Stormtrooper, random villain or bounty hunter in a bar fight....he was killed by his SON. I mean holy #%&*$#...such a powerful and emotional moment in an incredibly amazing film. Han Solo was a larger than life character that seemed invincible to outside forces. The thing that killed him was his own flesh and blood because he allowed himself to drop his guard in the face of family.

Me too...I barely could walk out of the theater. Gosh, I still can't believe it (an I am still kind of depressed). I know is just a movie, but as somebody already mentioned, Han was "Larger Than Life".

And seen others having similar feelings, at least give me some relief that is not been a silly old grumpy fan.

Just read that ALL the cast have signed up again for Ep8, including Ford! I hope that there's a good explanation coming.

Or Leia could use the backup copy from Firefly.

Cyborg Han? Han Snow? GHandalf (with a Falcon instead of an Eagle) duck?

Or flashback scenes with baby Ben and baby Rey (the lamest variant IMO)?

Why men throw their lives away attacking an armed Witcher... I'll never know. Something wrong with my face?
