Sooo, i know there has been quite a few patches released which improved the sim ALOT. But i still find flying a Gotha campaign seems to just be pointless. I spend a considerable amount of time getting to a target, usually in a flight of 6, and the second we encounter enemy aircraft, almost everyone including myself go down in a ball of flames. I did't think the Gotha would be so easy to shoot down, but heck not even a minute into contact and still loaded with bombs.... game over. What the heck can i do to actually enjoy a Gotha campaign where i can at least survive a few missions?

I know they are very long runs. I'd auto pilot till near england and then take over (as leader) and climb like hell. This should give you plenty of time/alt to reach target and help when the fish and chips eaters finally get near. When they do, start making long and gentle turns..this helps the gunners alot. If your formation is good, a few hits and the AI mostly breaks off. Hight is life.

Well i guess that is one way of doing it, just fly higher then them. TADA! ok thanks, going to give this method a try.

BadOpel, as lederhosen has noted, use the altitude advantage offered by the Gotha IV. You can climb to 20,000' with it if need be, and can bomb from that altitude as well with a fair amount of accuracy by using my bomb sight mod:
