I have both AH and CH but I could never stand the graphics so I basically had them all these years accumulating dust. Looking at the latest mods, I see a lot of improvements (specially 1.16) so I decided to give it another try and installed AH+CH with 1.6.

Everything worked, but when is time to fly, it behaves like is running x20 times the normal speed. The slightest joystick movement, puts the help in a spin insanely fast.

Am I missing something or is there any fix that you can point me to?

Thanks in advance.

Awesome! Thanks a lot for the quick response, it worked great. Did a quick free flight through Grand Canyon and looked great. Now have to dust off the box and start reading the manual. I am giving it a shot since as I mentioned, the graphics now look great (plus I can no longer play LB2 on Win10).

As I mentioned, I could never like AH/CH. I installed it a few times and forced me to play it but could never liked it. For me (notice that I say "for me", my personal taste), LB2 and LB1+FPK/LBGOld are the best. Others simply doesn't give feeling they give me, not even DCS BS with all the pretty graphics (just as I loved Jane's F-15 but never got to like Jane's FA-18).

I wish I could like EH too, I truly do, but time will tell.

PS: I tried the DL link on the Soczkien Clouds tread but I got "This webpage is not available".

Hmm, maybe it would be beneficial to understand, what is the main reason behind this. I also have similar feelings towards DCS, and I keep going back to old sims. (Sorry, I don't want to derail the thread.)

Why derail? Normal discussion wink
I'm third.I have bs2 but even one day I not played.Old games have a soul.DCS is the only sandbox.
You can learn avionics and nothing more.
in a dynamic campaign it is always an adventure and the unknown.
The Punisher-Now eech is a completely different game.Everything is new and improved.Write your impressions wink

Hi XIII:

I am concentrating in the Apache for now so I started with the AH manual (and just free flight while I familiarize with it). I just did a few quick "flight around" (not even completing all waypoints) while trying to find stuff in the manual (yeah, I am not very good at RTFM ).

I am still trying to sort out a few problems:

1 - Radar scan: At first the radar wasn't scanning so looking at the AH manual pages 5.18 to 5.21 I noticed the Ground Radar Controls. I pressed Scan (Numeric pad /) and it started scanning. Not sure if this is default behavior. Anyway, no biggie.....except nothing seems to work on Air Radar mode.

I checked the CH manual to see if I could find something else but it says "see target acquisition" which doesn't helped either.

2 - Tried the Comanche to see if the air radar worked but no joy. Then I noticed while inside the cockpit view, the cockpit textures are almost transparent (like if 80% transparency was applied). External views looked OK.

3 - Cockpit view looks so far I can barely read the MFDs. Looked at the manual and keycard but didn't found any key (at least in Cockpit or view sections) to do a "close up".

I just started so I don't know if any of these has been discussed (probably yes but haven't got much time to search while trying to learn to fly it at the same time frown ).

doh...I was looking at the original keycard....I did a quick look and saw the glass cockpit and FOV...Didn't saw anything about the air radar yet except for the HOME key which was in the original manual and didn't helped. I will keep looking.

Thanks a lot!

Punisher , I'm not sure if you mean the air radar is not scanning or , it is scanning but not picking up aircraft.

I have not yet tried the new v1.16.0 yet ,so I'm not sure if there is a bug with that version or not.

Just in case your air radar is not scanning - press the / button on numeric keypad to activate the same way you did for the ground radar.
If it is scanning but not showing aircraft , try pressing 7 on numeric keypad to turn from "enemy" to "all"
Also check to make sure distance setting is "8km" in upper right hand corner of radar screen. If it's not ,press + key in numeric keypad to increase scan distance.

I'm still flying v 1.15.0 ,but I replied to your post since you are still familiarizing yourself with the game and the controls ,just in case it's one of these simple problems.

Hope it works for you ,
Powerstomp

Hi Powerstomp

Thanks a lot for the quick response. The problem with the air radar is that nothing seems to happen. Just get the radar rings and nothing else. Numeric pad / doesn't work (like it does in ground mode) either.

Another thing is the FOV. It works only once. After pressing alt+f3/alt+4, the FOV changes once and that's it. Not sure if it is bug of v1.6.

Hi XIII

The mousewheel is not working. Not sure if is standard behavior but mouse doesn't work at all once inside the helo (works fine on menus).

I followed the steps for 1.15.0 installation up to the mods where I changed and installed 1.6 (since in the 1.6 tread says to install it "over a clean install" I assumed no mods):

1. install EEAH
2. run the game once
3. download and install patch 1.1E
4. run the game once again
5. install EECH
6. download and install eech-allmods-1.16.0RC4.exe
7. installed 1.16 Airfield Mod v 1.2

Please let me know if this was not the correct process. Thanks to all. Appreciate all your help and patience.

Installation good
only miss clouds Soczkien wink

check this in eech.ini
msl=3 # activates mouselook (and TrackIR when present) (0 = off, 1 = internal, 2 = external, 3 = both) (def = 0)

Thanks, Already downloaded the new clouds form Soczkien but haven't installed them trying to fix all the issues first.

I checked the ini file and msl was already set to 3. I then tested again and noticed that I have to press/click the mouse wheel first for it to work (and press it back for it to stop working).

Now my reminding issue is the AA Radar.

Also trying to figure out how to make it not to padlock automatically when selecting a target. I bet that is somewhere in the manual. Will try to read a little bit more tonight (if I don't finish a work meeting too late).

So far, seems I am going to (hopefully) like EH this time.

After hitting F1 to look straight ahead ;
To change FOV from near to wide view (to see whole cockpit) press 9 (not in numeric keypad)
If you are in comanche helicopter ,this will not complete the selection for wide view ... you must then press the backslash key \ above your enter key. This will bring your view back even further so that you can see your instruments ,both mfd screens ,and also straight ahead out the cockpit window.

Again ,I'm speaking from v 1.15.0 & 1.15.2. I'm not sure if any of these options have been changed in v 1.16.0.

Seems you already found the solution to the mouselook problem. (clicking center wheel button) Use this for Flir also when needed.

F1=foward view F2=Instrument view F3=left mfd screen(close up) F4=right mfd screen(close up)

Pressing & holding Alt-F3 & Alt-F4 zooms back & forth ,but cannot pull back your view to the optimum wide view setting without first following the instructions above.
( 9 then \ (backslash) )

If you are using a flightstick to select targets ,try using a different button on the stick.
I use a Saitek flightstick. My left thumb-button changes the selected target. My right button padlocks the current target. Not sure if your target selection automatically padlocking is another bug on this version or not. Just throwing this out there in case it's any help.
Once I padlock a target ,it will stay engaged even when selecting another target until I press F1 to reset my foward view. After that , padlock shouldn't engage when selecting targets until pressing the appropriate button.
