My wife and I have our tickets to see the movie at the local theater. 7:00pm show.
Every time we go to the movies we like to get there 30-45 min. early to ensure we sit about 5-6 rows up center of the row. So we are at eye level center of the screen (if that makes sense?)
Anyway, I will be taking off from work tomorrow - super pumped.
Now my question: If you were me - at what time would you head to the movie theater to get in line to ensure that you get the seats that you want?
I just envision Star Wars pandemonium at the theater tomorrow - although not as bad as 1999 when Episode I was released due to no advanced ticket sales.

I would get to the theatre a minimum of 1 hour before showtime. 1.5 hours would probably be best.
I'll be seeing it on Sunday but I booked reserved seating at a specialty movie theatre where you can have dinner and drinks so I have no worries about crowds of people.

Between this and the great word of mouth so far I really think SW will beat Avatar for the highest total box office ever.

That is awesome! I would have jumped all over that in a heart beat! What a great date night!

The place is called "Cinebistro" and they have locations throughout the US.

I too am seeing it at a theatre that serves dinner and drinks tomorrow...that way if it turns out to be Phantom Menace/Attack of the Clones I can drink myself into oblivion, haha.
At this theatre I go to, they don't have reserved seating but they pretty much control the stem pretty well. It is pandemonium though even if the movie showing is "John Carter."

Wow......an hour before......my wife and I finally went to see Spectre last night. Arrived 10 minutes before the show started. I never see a popular movie in the first few weeks. Can't stand crowded noisy cinemas.

Bingo! We have a winner of the big 1st prize!
I don't need a sardine packed theatre to enjoy the show.

I was near the movie theater I have tickets for Friday's showing so I went in and ask a Manager and she said the show is at 11, the seats are not reserved, first come first serve, having a ticket doesn't guarantee seating, etc etc so she recommends to get there at 9:30 to line up.
Is it really worth it? I may just cancel it and wait 2-3 weeks for the crowds to thin out.

I'd wait, but that's just me. I hate theatres so reducing their downsides is paramount.

There are people already camping in front of theaters to get first in to watch this on the first day.
In some cities, the movie is playing in several screens of the same multiplex, so I guess wait times can be much less, but in the first few days I doubt it can be helped.
1 1/2 hour wait?...PPPFFFT!...that's nuffin' (But I will not do it).
I remember waiting 3+ hours with parents and friends to watch King Kong, Star Wars, Conan the Barbarian (where they even made us seat in the aisle) when my home town theater had just 2 screens. Last time I checked it is on the same place, but has now 16 screens.

luckily the theater I always hit, Regal all have the reserved seating now. I always used to get there 40 mins early to get the seats I want. No with these seats you don't need to. Though you'll still get people who will be in your seats and then you need to make them move...
I'm going to see this in Imax first, assuming they have reserved seating as well.

Awesome experience. Arrived at 10am to wait in line. Met new friends - time went by fast. The manager let us into the theater at 4pm and got our seats. Great movie!
