What gives, It seems like the forum has gone dark lately. Are most people off doing Christmas stuff and too busy to visit the forum?

same as VanBaur with myself.

Christmas approaches with ominous tinkling and crinkling. My primary simulation interest lately has been working out the flight models of lighter than air, airships.

Just that time of year sir. Folks are busy with Christmas shopping, holiday travel plans, etc.

The devs are just quiet because they are industriously working on WOFF DOUBLE PLATINUM - err GOLD. Whatever. smile

I'm still flying. Think I'll be doing my Christmas shopping at the 24 hour truck stop at 11 pm on Christmas Eve again. Hope my wife likes her gear-jammin' boots and Kenworth belt buckle!

Me, I'm always at the low end of energies from November to February.
And I must admit, I actually HATE the Christmas time.
Everyone is so busy with "internal affairs", and places like this forum
go almost dead for a while. Arrggghhh!!!

Neither here nor there, but I'd like to change my Mood smiley to something from the smiley list instead of the pre-selected ones.

Yup, that's my Christmas wish, was never good with making smart wishes. duh

Seems like some of us are still flying DiD but not many these days probably due to the Christmas Holiday preparation, parties, family gatherings, etc, etc

Myself, I have been busy with the same and investigation into some mod developments for WOFF.

Seasons best wishes to all, and hope Santa leaves some liquid refreshments to your taste, in your stocking this year! That way you can toast health, happiness, and prosperity to all in a very appropriate fashion! biggrin

Well, banjo players don't have social lives anyway so I'm still flying both DID campaigns and I'll just work my Christmas shopping in somehow. biggrin

Still flying. Have not had time to update stories and diaries. Playing hunting guide for youngsters, riding a bit and intertaining Christmas guests. I could do without the last part.

One thing is for certain for the foreseeable future WOFF will always be on my hard drive and getting played at least once a week.

Touche vonBaur, I guess I'll have to narrow my generalization just a bit. biggrin

I barely post lately, but I fly regularly, 3 or 4 flights a week I´d say. May give a try to modding WOFF this Christmas.

I think it was Billy Connelly who said that the difference between a dead skunk in the road and a dead banjo player in the road was that there were skid marks in front of the skunk.

Keep playing, old friend. It's the only true American instrument!

I thought the banjo came out of Africa?

On the other hand, the steel string guitar (thank you Mr Martin)is surely an American innovation.
As are single and tri-cone resonator guitars.

I like some banjos - open back ftw. Bluegrass not my cup of tea at all.

Happy crimbo to all fellow sufferers.

Technically, the banjo did come from Africa, but what we know today as the banjo was developed in the US. The early banjos that the slaves played were nothing more than animal skins stretched over gourd bodies and some strings, very primitive but they sound really cool. It was actually the Minstrel shows of the early and mid nineteenth century that really propelled the banjo into a national instrument. As hard as it is to believe for a non-banjo fan, the banjo during the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries was probably the most popular instrument in the US. It wasn't until the 40s and 50s that the guitar started to supplant it. Anyway, that enough banjo trivia for anyone. biggrin

Just so happens that Clawhammer is my style of choice. I can play 3 finger Scruggs style but the old time music is what I really like.
