Ok, so you have the nevada map that is a real life training area... any other maps? It says... ''This exceptionally detailed and realistic world simulation engine guarantees an engaging, real-world combat experience in this flashpoint region.''

Am I missing something here chaps?

War could break out anywhere. Even sunny Nevada. Maybe the mafia are planning something.

Between residents of Los Angeles and Las Vegas, most likely over water.

So downloaded the map at 2.2m per sec
Downloaded the 2gig file decent.

Now it is downloading the 18gig file at 12kbytes per second.

Does this still count as a Nov release. Holy crap and it won't even download it via Torrent , only HTTP

I'm at 6 KB/s now. Sorry, but this is a joke.

I've got limited disk space left on my SSD, something like 30 GB. Can anyone let me know which of the installs can safely be deleted? I've got regular DCS, plus the 1.5 beta at least going on here.

ED clearly have not got a fecking clue

They are limiting peers to 30 ???????? Which will result in a really sh1te download speed

You should be able to manually set this yourself , some of us have low speed connections
others have a very high speed , one size does not fit all

I don't think they are limiting peers (at least not at 30), but I think the reason for the slow down is that the torrent client is not staying up after people finish their download. So, when you first start your download, there is a good probability that other clients have data for you and you can leach from all of them as your download qty increases, the probability that other clients have what you need decreases, so you can only leach from a few. By the time you're nearly finished, your upload rate should be high and download is going to be its lowest.
I like the idea of them providing the torrent client, but there should be a way to keep it running or re-start it to seed when your download is finished.

I see no reason they can't also provide a torrent tracker file so people can use their own torrent client (u Torrent, etc.). Would probably work considerably better. Stopped my download due to the slow speeds (20k on a 7+ GB file).

I didn't buy Neveda, so this may be a stupid question: Is DCS World 2.0 considered a patch above the current 1.5.147285? Forgive me if this has been dealt with earlier, the statement from ED left things a bit unclear.

The Black Sea terrain isn't compatible with 2.0 at the moment. If you didn't purchase Nevada there's no reason to download it for now.

Here's the file breakdown:

18 GB + 1.8 GB + 24 GB (then I cancel the 24 GB) and now the download is 27 GB?

What are all these files?

Nevada + DCS 2.0 is 44 GB? :/

Did you have a current install of 1.5 for it pull data from instead of downloading the whole thing? I'm thinking the 18gb might have been the base game files that most folks are just getting from their current 1.5 install.

I might be wrong...just a guess.

Started to download yesterday evening, and I was hoping to find my gift under the tree this morning. You bet...
There was just a small note : "lost connection to server"
Still have 19Gb to go, DL speed ranging from 50Kb/s to 500Kb/s. It should take another 15 hours or so.
That is if it doesn't lose connection again or crash like it happened a few minutes ago.
pfffffff

I'm taking this lightly because I consider I got the map for free but one thing is for sure : if ED can't provide a torrent link to use in a proper torrent software (you know, one you don't have to babysit) I'll skip any future maps.
This is ridiculous.

Fortunately the community is working it :

Part of the torrent issue may well be that AV progs are showing the connections as malicious. If they are stopping connections (as mine did until I switched it off) it will just make everything that much harder - especially for those who don't have notifications or don't know what to do with it.

This torrent has been a disaster since they started, and quite frankly, it shows huge incompetence that they choose the biggest download we've ever had from them, to trial it. And their "it's an alpha" response just highlights the bungling incompetence demonstrated in this release.

With an 80mbps fibre connection (that costs an arm and a leg - not to mention my gaming PC's electricity use over all that time) it's going to take 12 hours minimum. Add that to the 6 hours yesterday. Slower connections are going to be very much worse off.

Some guys over at fanboi forums have created a torrent tracker to help download
the 2.0 Neveda map

Its a pity I cannot post there to help out I have a 1Gigabit server in a Data center that could probably help out with this

^ Post on Mudspike forums, then. This is where the "public" torrent idea started.
