Blue Origin is owned by Amazon's founder?

SpaceX is owned by the co-founder of PayPal and one of the main investment capital of Tesla?

Plus he is married to Talulah Riley?

Some folks just have way too much money.

I think one day when Earth is near uninhabitable and out of resources, only the wealthy who can afford the space travel to another Earth like planet will survive.

This will only heat up the race. There will always be set-backs. But it must go on.

Great news, great achievement. It's good to see that folks with "way too much money" are doing something interesting and advancing knowledge.

Several scifi books and films have used this premise.

SpaceX and Blue Origin are achieving the same goals, but for different reasons which make it not the same.

Not quite the same thing SpaceX is planning, but cool nonetheless.

SpaceX already did this. What they didn't achieve yet is a full mission with vertical landing, but launching and landing has been done successfully.

I'm not reading what the "historic" record is?

I know SpaceX has done this before, but is this Blue Origin flight different because the vehicle reached 100km before landing, while SpaceX only went up 1km?

100km is the "line" which defines the beginning of "space", right?

That was my best guess, but even the official website didn't define it clearly.

Double checking this, it would appear the only other fully re-usable ship to clear 100km altitude was the SpaceShip One, three times in 2004.

If there is another, please post it, I'm interested to know.

It's landing like Flash Gordon rockets, that's all that counts!

They landed it right at the center of the pad. Very impressive. cool

Good points on that article. I see this as more a follow-up, or competitor, to Virgin Galactic tourism.

But I must ask... The article mentions that SpaceShip Two also had previouly reached sub-orbital space. However, the flight log I saw for this project didn't show any flights reaching 100km.

Was there such a flight during the SpaceShip Two program before it's loss?

The lists I saw only showed SpaceShip One managing the feat, three times.
