i give it a 9.3/10.0, you lost points in technical merit and execution.

Artistic Respresentation scores were all good though;

I think there was some sort of global reset of members where we had to re-register back then...not all were affected though. Force10 was taken back then so I remember registering as "Force98" or something like that. That profile is long gone though.

Bottom line, ED needs to get their shiznitz together so that we'll get new things to argue about. I'll have new material to complain about and you'll have new stuff to defend them with.

I have no dog in this fight, but I think the OP is way off base here.

Normally I'd say it's no big deal if a developer misses a deadline by a bit. Things happen. But software released by ED being in a beta state for YEARS is wholly unacceptable.

Regardless, though, it's costing ED money. I know that I have simply stopped buying unfinished, non-beta modules. In fact, I've stopped buying all modules for now.

I'm only one person, so my money probably hasn't been missed.

Anymore I just don't give a crap. There are just too many other games out there to play, and frankly BMS kicks ED's butt everyday and twice on Sunday.

Now let's think about your "complaint" about harassment for just a sec. If what I type was truly considered harassment, then you would have been banned years ago from SimHQ; just like at ED's forums. How about you take a stroll through memory lane and view all of your old posts.... Truly take a step back and look at it with a neutral eye, maybe, just maybe you will see what I am referring to....

My initial comments stand and I will reiterate since you want to be left alone; though you also want to be free to post about me without reprisal.

Bottom line if you are so jaded by ED then stop having ANYTHING to do with them.... End your relationship with Lockonfiles and such...

Ultimately if you are truly so disheartened by my comments that you have become distraught at what I might type, then simply don't post about me. Don't include my username in your posts. Don't post at all on a PUBLIC forum, after all it is the internet.

Quote:
MOSCOW, Russia – September 1, 2013 - Legendary flight simulation designers Ilya Shevchenko, Igor Tishin, and Matt Wagner are excited to announce an upcoming Kickstarter campaign for a new WWII flight simulation being developed for the PC. DCS WWII: Europe 1944 is the start of an exciting new flight simulation series. Built by industry veterans at RRG Studios with the same approach that made famous flight sims of the past great, and in partnership with the experts at the Fighter Collection and Eagle Dynamics, the simulation aims to satisfy seasoned aces as well as attract new pilots to the genre.

I think it's pretty clear their was a partnership/joint venture. There is no way that ED could have stepped in and taken the code and kickstarter funds unless they were partners. Without the consent of the backers I might add.

I wasn't partnered in the kickstarter...could I have just stepped in and taken over all the assets? Obviously not.

We don't need to open up the whole rewards cutting issue again...I just can't fathom why folks deny ED was involved. It doesn't matter if they were just supplying the engine...their name is plastered all over press releases and campaign info. I'm sure many contributed to the kickstarter because ED's name was on it...especially given Luthier's track record with Pacific Fighters and COD.

IMO

Wow, sounds like they were involved.

Seriously it's gotta be the new gamer trend of coming off as "I'm impressive" to woo game companies to hire them or have them on their team.

I think that it was the reality of the poor KS showing/results, that in the end axed Luthier and cut the rewards...

When I look at the state games are released nowadays, then 'BETA' and 'Release' look like a meaningless label. EDs Beta is often time in better shape and form than 'Release' version of AAA titles. Also ED isn't the only company taking years to develop something (valve time, soon (tm) anybody?). And I would take delayed product to a rushed one any day. DCS quality modules are hard to develop, and we, as a comunnity are more demanding than your usuall CoD player.

ED is not perfect, far from it, but no compay is. On one hand their communication is sometimes lacking, on the other hand what other company has some of their top brains (YoYo) discussing stuff on forums?
What I care about mainly is the product, and in the end DCS: World is the only, modern day, actively developed, combat sim. And it works, the setup is simple, you don't have to tweak config files, use some magic patch process to make it work on a modern system, worry about OOM...etc.

So is ED involved with all of these projects as well?

You do realize that The Fighter Collection have a lot of old WWII aircraft? How do YOU know how involved TFC or ED was in the project? Could ED have only been ready to offer support for DCSW? Could TFC have only been ready to assist with the aircraft they have in inventory?

Do you have a copy of ANY contract or signed agreement to substantiate your claims?

A "joint venture/partnership" and "in co-operation with" are very different.

DCS Kickstarter
Wags July 2014 "In this July 2014 update, the primary news is in regards to the restructured backer rewards. After a careful review of the older system under RRG, we found it financially unattainable."
Wags October 2017 "the investment vs. generated revenue has been excellent for the World War II aircraft. In fact, the P-51D Mustang has twice the cost effectiveness of the A-10C Warthog."
