No Sokol1, I do not have a BosCampaign.jar executable file in the BosCampaign folder. On the contrary, I have a BosCampaign WinRAR archive file. No executable. What's wrong? (tried renaming...did nothing).

I posted Beta version 2. Best guess is download again and unzip into your main BoS folder. The jar is there.

Thanks Pat. I shall try again. It is something to do with my pesky operating system. I have no doubt the jar is there. BTW, a really big thank you to you for doing this. I was one of the legion of flight sim fans that were initially very disappointed with IL BoS because it did not give enough attention to making a good campaign experience; having a grind and making us complete repetitive, soul-less missions destroyed the good aspects of the sim for me. I stopped playing and resolved never to buy their products again. But through the efforts of your good self, I am again turning my attention to BoS, so thank you for that and be under no doubt that I really appreciate your efforts. You have given hope for BoS again.

regards,

Apoll

Tried to download and extract again. The jar file is in the zipped file alright, but when I extract it, doesn't matter where, the BocCampaign.jar turns into a BosCampaign WinRAR archive, which does not become an executable. Don;t know what is wrong. I have Java running as far as I can tell.

Hi apol,

What are you using to un-zip the file? I use 7-Zip and have never experienced any problems with it, strange that this is happening though.

It almost sounds like you have .jar files associated with WinRAR to open them, like .rar files should be. You need to clear that from the default programs section in Windows control panel.
The .jar extension should be associated with Java Platform SE binary I believe.

Jedi Master, you did it! That was the problem alright: jar associated with winrar. Deleted winrar and presto: there was the executable. Thanks very much. Now just need to get back into BoS to try out the campaign missions.

Apoll cheers

If I already had BoS, absolutely I would get PWCG, without question.

Since I do not have BoS, however, I will wait until such time when (or if) the BoS team adds the ability for an in game PWCG GUI, as the RoF team already did, before I would consider buying BoS.

That is not the issue.
The issue is paying for a product then having to instal a third party app to get the best out of the paid for product.
If one had already paid for the product yes instal the 3rd part app. I believe that is what nimits was getting at

Beta 3 released for testing, bug tracking

"Added summer and autumn Stalingrad

Fixed weapons mod mask not being set

Set mission start to runway by default

Added climb WPs to allow flights to get to mission altitude

Generated English alphabet place names (eliminates ???? in mission brief)

Added PWCGBoS.exe for easier program launch"

Still early days but progress seems to be solid

Cheers Dakpilot

It's getting better with each beta... I'm looking forward to it's release.

Yes, this is working very well for me, and I"m very pleased with the direction this has gone. The summer map generated campaigns are just beautiful. Now once I figure out all the bells and whistles with this program....I'm going to do some mission tweaking myself...

If Pat can make it as good as the one I used in RoF then it will be a winner...

It's what I'm waiting for too. Not only get as much as I can out of BoS but to also nudge me toward possibly buying into BoM. I've waited this long though, I may as well wait for the obligatory 50% off sale. BoS has had three since release and I don't think BoM will be any different.

I don't know that even PWCG would nudge me toward BOM at this point, will have to see. It would have to be at a large discount for me to even consider it. Once burned I guess. I have pretty much moved on to other sims and having a blast.

I am certainly glad Pat decided to do this for BOS though, hopefully it will help resurrect the SP aspect of the game, which it sorely needs. I do hope 1CGS is appreciative of all the efforts the guy is putting into this for the game.
