Sounds pretty crappy, perfect situation for staff to issue a "get the hell out and stay out" but as you witnessed that's not likely to happen in today's castrated world.

That's unfortunate. For that length of stay, you should have a private room. For even 1 night you should have a private room IMO.

that's crazy, the hospitals in NH have rules for sure! Just last year when my Mom went into the ER all 3 of her boys showed up with their kids. So we had 11 people there and they told us we could only have 3 so we'd have to rotate in and out.

After I got out of ICU, I was put in a 4 bed ward to wait for transfer to the Heart Inst. I guy came in with something wrong with his stomach and he moaned loudly all night. Yup, no sleep. Asked the nurses to give him something to knock him out but they didn't or couldn't. That night more loud moaning, so I grabbed a blanket and pillow and went to the lounge. The nurses freaked out when they did a bed check. Don't know if they found me in the lounge but got a blast for not telling them where I was going. Would have told them but no one was on the desk. The guy was gone that day.
There was only 16 squadrons of RAF fighters that used 100 octane during the BoB. The Fw190A could not fly with the outer cannon removed. There was no Fw190A-8s flying with the JGs in 1945.

When you are lying there helpless, it's scary to start complaining. The nurses can't be in the room all the time. I just remember the days when a very tough nurse would come in the room and tell people to shut up or get the hell out. I understand. You never know what to expect in today's world. You'd think people would respect that a person is sick never mind not retaliate on a person in a hospital bed because he asked for the peace and quiet he has the right to have.

Sorry, but at the hospital I work at the visitors would have been escorted out. Even during the day we have quiet hours. That said, the healthcare sector is going thru some tough times right now and morale has suffered especially when the patient to nurse ratio has nearly doubled.
The road less traveled is filled with fewer needy people.
