No, he didn't say it was the end. He said:

Historically for those that have been around a bit:

WOFF
WOFF2

and finally for 2016 the possibility of

WOFF Gold.

"...there will still be addons down the road..." does not mean "...this is the end..." - right?

I ca see some people are troubled by this, but if OBD really are thinking of stopping further major development, then they are going to stop no matter the vote.

So in that case its better to vote yes, then at least we have a chance of getting the extra activities, shipping etc.

That can only be good for the long term shelf life of an already great sim.

imho.

Yes = improve product and add to it. Possibly done by next summer/fall.

No = don't improve, just add to it. Additions (after addon#3) maybe ready by next summer/fall.

Kind of, OldHat except my guess is that since the devs did say it would be their last major WWI release, it means they are looking at releasing something major for some other genre (perhaps WWII or jets). If that's the case, with such a small dev team, I can only imagine that most of their precious little time will go towards the new project and add-ons for WOFF will drop down to a trickle - not unlike what has happened with RoF once 777 switched its focus to WWII.

The time to get improvements to WOFF then is now, when it is being offered. The future of add-ons will likely be slim indeed if they are focused on another new major franchise.

Just my 2 cents: I would prefer WOFF3 with some scenery and terrain improvements, enhancements, more ground activity and related ground attack tasks, with new aircraft (for example promised Handley Page bomber, etc.), over Gold version with already existing aircraft (in form of addons #1 - #3) and free mods (e.g. aceredux).

Well, you should be honest. If they go to all the trouble to make it and no one buys it, I would be pretty upset if I were them! salute

Well......there it is. We all run out of steam eventually....its the way of the world, nothing's forever, but the gift you guys have given all of us over these many years is of incalculable value. I remember the first WM Scenery download...infinitely complicated, but better than anything we'd ever seen in CFS before. And the work all of you have carried forward thru WOFF still makes me happy to see every time I fire up the rig and go fly. Fabulous work gentlemen.........kudos to all of you. If the whole arrangement never went another step forward I'd still be happy with what you've made for us.....let's be clear, the tiny download fees can't possibly have met the thousands of hours of work involved in creating what we have already. So....whatever trickle of inventive genius tickles your fancy as time goes by it'll be welcomed for the vintage wine it is. So here's one happy flyer who's been part of the scene since '98 when CFS-Europe was first introduced. God speed and good luck to us all....Thank You

He also said

"Just a few words from me....

Yes its WOFF3 and it will probably be our last major WW1 release - we have been at this for over 10 years.
So it will be the next phase and I figured why not call it 'GOLD' in tribute to Flying Corps Gold...."

As for WW2..not interested to be honest. I'd only buy it if they have made WOFF gold into everything it can be with no stone lefty unturned. Then I would..otherwise I'd just be bitter knowing their time was spent on WW2 and not WW1..:)

Yes.

Happy to buy anything you OBD blokes
create.

Going on your past record, WOFF Gold
will be stunningly good.

And who knows, Gold may even include
the Dolphin. Ah well, a man can dream.

All the best.

I voted yes. Of Course.
I would buy a possible WoFF gold, no doubt. Bought all the stuff from W\OFF so far without exception and regretted not a single buck I spent.

But I fear that the journey is getting closer to its end, weather there will be WoFF gold or not. That's indeed really sad.
OBD should produce DCS modules and recreate WoFF for DCS World. Now that would be something!

Outgunned, outnumbered though never outclassed!

That's a very interesting idea Blooddawn. I think OBD is looking at moving away from WWI and into something else, but I wonder if a jump to DCS modules would be profitable. Can you actually make in depth single player dynamic campaigns with massive amounts of historical content in DCS - or is it just about putting planes in the sky? WOFF wouldn't be WOFF with just planes in the sky, no matter how excellently modeled they might end up being. It's all the attention to the supporting history that truly brings this sim to life.
