Ditto. Especially if WOFF GOLD is essentially WOFF 3.

I must wonder though if a WOFF GOLD ships, does that effectively end new development for WOFF V2? Maybe it would be better if they just called it WOFF V3 and stated that it also included everything in WOFF, WOFF V2, etc.

Before voting I think that is a good question and needs some clarification from the devs. But I do like the idea of one big ad-on pack.

I voted YES, because this is the best sim I've ever played, and I can't get enough of it smile

That said, I think that rather than having folks feel like they'd paid for things twice, it might make more sense if you were to continue to release expansion packs with all these new goodies in... unless there's some technical reason why you couldn't do that. I think most of us us would buy them all, anyhow.

Yes, yes, and YES. I want the very best that WOFF has to offer. I don't care how much it costs.

I think it is safe to say at this point that WOFF Gold is waaaaay in the planning stage and any concrete details, even from the Dev's, would be pure speculation.
I'm going on faith and past performance here.

This may be a good idea for those still on WOFF 1 or WOFF 2 but without any add on already bought, those who are up to date so far, would have to partially rebuy stuff they already have payed for....why not go for an add on with just the new things mentioned? I don't understand this....

I'm guessing that maybe they want to consolidate under a single platform so they only have to release one patch and not different patches for each add-on. I imagine they aren't giving away the goodies as far as all the cool new toys they have in mind just yet and that - hopefully - there would be enough of a substantial upgrade in terms of graphics, damage models, new planes, etc that even the fully up to date WOFF V2 fliers with all the add-ons will find it worth it to buy. Then with most of the fliers on a single, up to date platform, it will be easier to sell new stuff to a consolidated community that supports ALL of the new WOFF GOLD baseline features.

Of course, when it comes to WOFF plans I don't know my arse from a hole in the ground. Pure speculation on my part. For the real reason, please see someone intelligent.

Maybe there could be two prices?
Those who bought WOFF plus the add-ons already, pay less than those who upgrade from WOFF 1?
I guess it can all be checked from the purchasing lists?
Just a thought...

Just a few words from me....

Yes its WOFF3 and it will probably be our last major WW1 release - we have been at this for over 10 years.
So it will be the next phase and I figured why not call it 'GOLD' in tribute to Flying Corps Gold....

And like any phase release we have done we are not saying exactly what it will encompass at this stage.

OBD is not asking anyone to pay twice - but WOFF3 will not have a 'massive amount' of new craft because frankly it takes too long - we are looking at adding craft for the GOLD version but probably more AI craft than a lot of extra player flyables - however there will be new player flyables of course.
We already have a record breaking 60+ flyables in WOFF.

It will feature overhauled craft where needed and especially uprated DM systems, and uprated terrain and scenery.

Yep - once WOFF Gold is out there will be no more WOFF1 and 2.

In terms of ground activity I am thinking more along the lines of activity not only at the front lines but everywhere (within a WW1 context) to make the world more immersive - ditto the channel shipping.

Still :- dont read into this as 'we are' or 'we are not' but if 'we do'.... - it will be the last major release of WW1 from us.

Winding Man, thanks for the clarification. It's sort of a bittersweet announcement, we look forward to WOFF Gold, but are sadden to hear this will be the final installment on such a wonderful flight sim. I know that everyone feels the same as I do. Just remember, Salmson and Bregeut. I'm joking, whatever you add I'm sure I'll enjoy.

I, unfortunately, suspected as much.
Time enough to mourn later but certainly thanks for all OBD has done so far - and will continue to do with the "Gold."

Thanks for the clarification WM, sadly, I suspected GOLD was the last we may see from you guys,...that´s life. You have and hopefully you will, in the short term, create and polish a gem that will be inmensely enjoyable for years to come. A stepping stone in WW1 flight simming. So, yes, I WILL buy GOLD, specially because you are able to create AI craft (non flyable but, destroyable wink that add to the inmersion.

I like all of the suggestions, except the reduced HAs. I've found some fascinating stuff simply by trying to find out more about my squad mates.

I would especially like to see more environment activity. Coastal shipping and maybe artillery?
I also think that consolidating updates makes it easier to attract new players.

I'll second Banjoman's comment about the bittersweet nature of WindingMan's post. Has to happen at some point, I suppose.

Still a cataclysmic event.
We will never see anything like WOFF for a long, long time. Not in my lifetime anyway.
Not the single player attention nor an accurate simulation of the genre.
A very sad day!

yep

I voted Yes. Maybe lesser known a/c or a/c with an unknown cockpit lay out as AI machines

Then you'd better make it a truly magnificent WW1 flight sim that will last us for many years to come. smile

Ugh. Well I knew the party would have to eventually end sometime for WWI. I'd definitely pay for a WOFF GOLD. The DM revision in particular would be of interest to me. I really like what you did with the longer burning aircraft in the 2.13 patch so there's more time to see the damage effects.

Well if you do or if you don't, let me be the first to say you've left a hell of a legacy for WWI flight sims. WOFF is hands down the best single player WW1 flight sim ever created. I don't know if anyone will ever top what you guys have done.

Thank you.

Winder, your clarification was great - and also brought a gloomy mood for me.
Although it is more than understandable when regarding it from your points - you guys had a long breath
and made a great run on a very stabile course!
Hats off, and congratulations - you have achieved more than so many other sim-builders with a much larger crew.

And maybe one day, you remember how many 'come-backs' Frank Sinatra had - and that you also feel you are
missing something, when you are not "on stage".

But damn - this sounds already like an obituary!
(Writer straightens himself up).
First there will be "Wings Over Flanders Fields GOLD" - with some of the missing planes as AI
(and hopefully one or two more flyables).
I'm looking forward to it!

and I know you guys are still deciding what to do, but I understand Matt wrote a great new score for WOFF V3 so I'm really hoping that bodes well for it (WOFF GOLD) seeing the light of day. biggrin
