It broke freelook mode. After doubleclicking, it sets th camera to head transpose instead of the usual head rotation, and an extra middle mouse click is needed. Highy irritating. How did this get past QA?

"‘render3D' option in /Config/autoexec.cfg restored." <== what's that about?

disables 3d renderer so you can run just the software without GFX.
Sorta quasi server mode.

Freelook not working properly here either.

In the Mig 15 I think if I used the l-alt C it was ok, double clicking the mouse wheel not.

Best news is they have apparently fixed the dx11backend.dll crash. That bug has prevented me from playing anything beyond some Instant Action missions since the release of 1.5. Finally time to try out some campaigns and longer missions.

Fingers crossed.

Well that's a no brainer.
Of course there will be complaints. Ed are focusing their attention on their newly announced module while totally ignoring the modules that have already been paid for long before the announcement of the trainer. Meanwhile bst announced the f5 while there is still a lot of work to be done on their paid for betas. It's pretty insulting really

Wags July 2014 "In this July 2014 update, the primary news is in regards to the restructured backer rewards. After a careful review of the older system under RRG, we found it financially unattainable."
Wags October 2017 "the investment vs. generated revenue has been excellent for the World War II aircraft. In fact, the P-51D Mustang has twice the cost effectiveness of the A-10C Warthog."

what would you assume needs to be done on the UH1H Mi8 F86 or Mig15?

The MiG-15 got increased G tolerance? Gotta say that sounds wrong, I've had no issues with G tolerance when keeping up chasing F-86s so close you could think I was trying to AAR from them for minutes on end. Last time I checked it was the Sabre, not the MiG pilots who had the G suits.

The whole point of releasing a Beta is to find most problems before the final release. Of course there will be problems, if that's a problem don't download the Beta. We can also complain about priorities even if we have no idea what DCS priorities are. wink

The flight sim community is being conditioned to accept and to pay for beta software. In any other online community people would be up in arms about this. What's even more insulting is that everything that was paid for in beta is still in beta. Whatever happened to software developers that released a finished product? And I'm not talking about the 1.5 beta, I'm talking about the stuff that you people have paid for.

I liked how the Ka-50 can do sling loads now, unless I never noticed that before. It looks like the "CTD/memory leak/whatever you wanna call" has been fixed (at least on my side), although I did notice a '20 second freeze' in multiplayer recently.

Not sure if anyone else has noticed this, but has anyone seen a change in the AI's tracer rounds? Seems like they're harder to spot now than before.

It's a matter of perspective, Rugg.

I know you're an old schooler who has been around since the Flanker days, so you've seen examples of the bad old days where publishers would force release of a broken product and then move onto the next project. If you were lucky you got some bugs fixed, but most major gamebreakers were untouched. Even Falcon 4.0 was released in an unplayable state and after the 1.08 patch (which made it stable, but little else) the team was disbanded. Even F-22 ADF was supposed to have a dynamic campaign, then it was supposed to be an add-on, then it became a standalone sequel (Total Air War). Even then, the campaign engine was unfinished as the team was moved to get Wargasm out the door (thanks Infogrames). Products like the Janes' study sims were the exception, not the norm.

Even with current 3rd party standards, this not uncommon. With FSX developers, you had many 3rd party planes that were broken when Acceleration/SP2 was released, and FSX implementation is much simpler than DCS by any metric.

i'm not excusing such behavior by any stretch, nor am I calling ED a "lesser evil". But we have a small studio that does not have the financial backing of a AAA publisher. This means that they can work to their own schedule and get it out "when it's ready". This also means that they may need cash flow in order to fund development, which is where pre-orders and open betas come in.

Hawk and C-101 notwithstanding (I'm feeling burned by both), have we really been burned by betas? These betas are of higher quality than most finished products. That, combined with the complexity of the product and the evolution of the base engine means that ongoing teething issues are expected. We have, for example, the best Huey ever modeled in a sim, and yet people are complaining about engine overheat modeling. Most sims wouldn't even touch this, or if they did it would be with a tabular/linear calculation that seems reasonable.

Sure, I was unhappy with the length of time it took for BST to release a manual for the Mi-8, and if it wasn't for Devrim's English cockpit I would have given up on it altogether. But in the end what they have produced, though late, is much better than the final product (including documentation) we would have seen from most AAA publishers.

- Robert A. Heinlein

The average naval aviator, despite the sometimes swaggering exterior, is very much capable of such feelings as love, affection, intimacy, and caring. These feelings just don't involve anyone else.

nothing, it is a fine template.

I finished updating the P-51D once this year - then had to redo part of them again when 1.5 came out, that is twice sixty skins - it would be nice to have an official template that is the final version, otherwise I will feel like Sisyphus when after doing 20 new ones they release a new template with a modified model and lines.
