This question seems to hit a vulnerable point at the BoS forum, first the post was moved but now it is inaccessible.

Cheshire....Ok stockport
I can't see why...there's only 25 people on the ATAG server right now, much less than on the BOS servers.

Maybe they knew it would just start a flame war smile

There were only three posts on the topic before it was moved. 1) the original question. 2) saying CoD is dead 3) a link to ATAG.

I looked in a few times after that and there were no further responses... maybe after that but as far as I saw it was just those three posts. I see no reason for it to be locked. Moved? I understand moving it to an appropriate sub-forum, but not locked or deleted.

I was wondering as well.

It vanished before I was able to mention ACG online campaign for Cliffs.

We fly every Sunday , and recently there was a new record set for ammount of players , there was 120 players playing a mission.

Flights had to be staggered because server goes crazy when there's more than 100 players simultaneously.

Saying that CloD is dead is a huge overstatement.

I would say that it has the biggest consistent (squadrons) online community between ATAG and ACG.

The size and organisation of ACG is well beyond of anything happening in BoS.

Only thing that keeps me excited in BoS is DBS Online campaign , thanks to DBS and all involved.

I don't know CODs current community size, but I'm expecting a huge resurgence in numbers after the TF 5 update. The new theater is likely to be somewhere in the MED, a theater that combat flight sim polls have indicated is the most wanted theater for the last twenty years. I don't see DCS Normandy or BOS Moscow maps having the same popularity. That said if VR is as popular next year as I think it will be, it will slowly reduce 2D sims like BOS, and COD to EAW status, unless they can find away to implement VR. I know BOS could could see the potential of VR, and were all in until the VR SDK dropped support for DX9 sims.

Mysticpuma said ,on behalf of Team Fusion , that VR support is not out of question. We might see it in Cliffs at some stage. As much as I am excited about VR , I don't think it will be that popular to stop people using their monitors.

I will get HTC Vive if I can put my hands on it this year, but I will only supplement my normal gaming with it. From what I experienced with DK2 , I wouldn't want to have longer gaming session than one hour using VR.

Too much risk of getting totally disconnected from reality.

I also agree that TF 5.0 patch will be a huge event , practically a new game. It will further expand Clod playerbase..

Oh BTW, they don't like to use the phrase 'deleted', they like to 'hide' threads over there, it really offends them if you say deleted even though the threads just vanish and never see the public light of day again.....remember it's hide, makes all the difference, it's much cuddlier.

It could just be the trend with online play these days. People are just busy..squadrons hard to maintain also with limited time as well.

Why start a thread like that anyway not those boards? It's throwing gas on a fire. And a pretty obvious attempt to do just that.

Well, one can't help how the "Defenders of the Realm" respond to questions regarding BoS, CoD or any other potential competitor.

I like how the developers respond to all of this kind of stuff..

They keep cranking out good content and the sim just keeps chugging along... copter

Yep, they are putting out new content, no one questions that.
When there is a single player content worth the price and when the limitations of the engine are lifted, then it might start chugging along, as it is now it's depending on life support, imo.
But kudos to everybody who is satisfied with the product as it is, I can't forget the promises.

Easy to have a idea - despite STEAM numbers are no real because CloD "advanced" players don't start the game inside STEAM, so they are not counted.

http://steamcharts.com/app/63950

Be these numbers CloD "community" drop ~28% over a year. And rough 50% of these numbers are Single Players.

BTW - Even WT "community" is srinking:

http://steamcharts.com/app/236390#All

All those "deserters" are happy with BoS? hahaha

I was surprised by the average age of male computer gamers being 35. I thought it would be a lot younger. Also was surprised to see "Shooters" as only 6.4% of computer games sold in 2014. Looks like computers are still being used mostly for games that make you think in some fashion or another (role playing and strategy being the biggest segments). I was pretty much surprised by most of this information...

Yes, these figures make you realize that anyone who produces a flight sim....must have some special love for the niche...because profit wise..it's just not there. That makes me even more thankful for anyone who puts their time and money into CFS.
