Early access game, super clunky UI and anemic sound effects. Still fun as all hell, it's basically Battlefront 2 with Homeworld aesthetics and controllable fleet assets (it has smart bots to fill out servers/offline too)

It is only 14 bucks on steam. I picked up a copy and will give it a play and let you know my thoughts.

It's not very good. It's basically a cheap B FPS combined with a cheap B space shooter. Ah well.

Huh, me and my buddy have been enjoying coop, but I might be a sucker for Battlefront style games

I watched a video on this last night and it looked like it was pretty good. I like that it covers ground combat as well as the ship battle.
It said you progress to commanding capital ships(?) later in the game. How fast is the progression?

Are the ground missions boring like in Star Trek Online?

The ground missions aren't the strong suit but I don't mind them. Commanding capital ships simply requires you to find the bridge and sit in the captain's chair, there's no prerequisite for using vehicles.

Keep in mind that you can't take control of them when they're in hyperspace. In the regular game mode there's about 3 phases and the second phase is generally the attacking capital ships warping in. In territories mode there's a battleship, destroyer, and two corvettes per team right off the bat.

Keep in mind it's very much an early access game and while there's lots of upgrades it's still your basic shooter. I love battlefront so I love this game, but there are definitely bugs and placeholder assets (namely sound and the UI).

Ok, I'll keep it on my radar and grab it after a few more updates. I like that it can be played solo offline or co-op and not just another 100% MP game.
