I am going to try with the P-51. I placed a variety of planes, 10+ F-15Es, C-130s, E-3s, AN-26, L-39 ect. The last ~10 F-15Es are what killed the performance. That, and the explosions.

"tr" as in a track file? I can send you the mission file if I saved it to, and we can compare our frame rates.

As for the P-51, I placed around 60-80. Around 100 frame rates. 15 squadrons of 4 F-15Es and MIG-31s and the frame rates were around 40 without any shooting. I will test this some more. In the old version once the shooting started it was a slide show.

Win 7 64bit
Crucial M500 240GB (installed here)

everuthing is unified, one shortcut, no SP MP cuts, no launcher.exe and dcs.exe.

Just straight dcs exe, as for chaning controls in MP, its been stated already that the sim is required to be paused to change inpjt assignments, Can you imagine if users joined and paused the game everytime they wanna change a button assignment.

Easy fix, setup your controls before you jump into MP.

The initial bootup and 1st load is about the same, slightly faster, when you quit and re launch the mission, loading is seconds to nearly instant.

those not seeing the benefits of the unified exe arent looking in the right place, or simply ignoring them.

F-15Es are significantly higher poly counts than the P-51Ds

Ran one more quick test. 60 F-15Es vs 60 MIG-31s at 20nm distance. Frame rates were around 40-50, when the shooting started it got into the 20s. I know 20nm is close for a MIG-31, but out of 60 none fired a single R-33.

120 AI planes that close is a big number, although I hope it improves further so we can have that many AI units in a mission without performance drops. I also wonder if a faster GPU will increase performance significantly.

Entering/exiting a mission is certainly much quicker.

I don't know if this is the video Nate was talking about, but I saw this the other day.

DCS P51 - Massive 120 Aircraft WW2 Dogfight.

PS: 1.5 runs sweet as a dye for me now on my simple system, also much better load times, can't wait for Nevada though. wink

E:\Program Files (x86)\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World OpenBeta\Mods\aircraft

Then load the game, go to module manager. It will then exit the game and download the modules one by one.

I copied the FC3 folder, and it updated and synced them all. Upon loading the game, the login failed. I waited a few minutes before clicking the X. I then went to the module section which downloaded the modules. The game worked fine offline.

I have not tried this online, so I had no idea if there will be issues using this method when playing online. Please note you may have DCS installed on a different drive from C:\, which may have given me my issues in the first place. I also moved my install from C:\ to E:\ well over a year ago.

Thanks Flogger, that seems to have worked as it is D/L my modules now, thank-you.

Mick. smile

I did this above. I followed it to the letter. Even used FC3. I first got a tab with all my modules then the game shut down. When I logged back in it said I need to install Black shark..???? WHY!?!
So now I am downloading that. Don't look good for me playing it this weekend.

I cant install none of my modules.
Sniff...

The only module that I can't seem to play is the Huey, it says the module is installed, serial number and all but can't enter it to fly.

I do get an activation error for the Huey every time I fire the game up though, compiled an error report so will see what comes of it.

It is still a very poor design choice to have to pause the sim if a client needs to update his/her control bindings , I don't see other multiplayer software having this limitation

That was a pain! But, you got to see the positive. It is really beautiful and this will update us for the next 20 years.
I want to say THANK YOU to this great community. Even if nothing you said helped me, it encouraged me to keep going. lol.
In the end I had to reload both my DCS installs. Lucky I am a single old man. Nobody was tugging at me today. I managed to get Beta and my old DCS back up.

In the last year I managed to reconnect with an old friend. He says things and I never forget what he says. He is that kind of friend. Yesterday he says to me, "I don't trust myself to remember anything. I write everything down." Today, I learned the value of them words. I have always kept account of all my DCS downloads and passwords in my email. I had backed up a copy of DCS 1.2xx when the sticky stuff hit the fan, I was ready. Thanks Anthony.

Word to the wise.

Unified UI is cool, visibility settings are cool, new effects are cool, FPS increase is cool. Running the KA-50 mission "Battle" (which normally destroys my FPS) I'm getting about 10 frames higher than I normally do, and I have the graphics settings set higher than my normal DCS install. More moderate missions without 5 billion units involved (AKA the rest of them) run buttery smooth.

So far I'm impressed across the board.

Finally got 1.5 running. But I have no "Options" button and no "Module Manager." I think that I read that module manager isn't working yet. Is that right? Don't know if this matters, but I got the "MDRV" missing alert when I first tried to install. Then, I dl'ed C++, like someone posted, and it runs now. But only in like 720 or something but not at 1920x1080. It loads quicker than 1.2. I had only the SU-25 and TP-51. I have followed steps listed in the post and have eA10C, F86, 109K and Huey now. Any suggestions. Going to office for a couple of hours. Wish I had all you like you guys.

At the top left of the main screen is a bar with a Gear icon (that is Options) and a checkerboard icon (that is Module Manager). There is also an exit icon to the right of those two.

Can anyone reccomend a misssion I could download that would stress my system. I brag about super high frame rates but the missions I normally fly have very few units and not a lot going on. I'd like to get a more accurate idea of FPS for my system. Thanks in advance.

Use Copy and paste in the mission editor to create a 200 v 200 dogfight - that should be a real test.

EDIT:- Just tested 160 P51s v 160 Fw-190s -> 10PFS, however 80 v 80 was ok at 40FPS.

My impression: potential is there but still a bunch of kinks to be ironed out. Doesn't use the SLI at all unless I force it to (FAFR2), and when it does it's micro-pause city. Incidentally, there's no easy way to bring all my settings configuration over from 1.2.x is there? I have to redo the keyboard and joystick axis setup then?
