I live in Canada and went to my local dealer to get two i7-6700K's. He says his supplier (one of the top 3 in Canada) is back-ordered 10,000 units and that it would be a minimum of 2 months before they can get any. I started to look at all the typical on-line hardware retailers and even though some say they have them in stock I keep finding posts from people who have ordered from those sites and they are also on back-order. Is there a problem with 6700K production at the moment? Does anyone know of a definitive place to get one (that actually just does not say "in stock" but actually means it?) Thanks.

If you absolutely have to have Hyper-threading
then the hunt is on I guess. A few 6600 K's have
been spotted, if a slight down grade is possible.

Just repeating part of my post from another thread related to "scarcity" of Skylake (because it is relevant to the original post in this thread). Following is a quote from an article:

Quote:
Chipzilla might have caused slow PC sales at the beginning of the year to boost the price of its Skylake chips later.

A recent study shows that the slump in PC sales in the first half was deliberately made to help Skylake sell better since August..this will mean a low supply of Skylakes in the first half of 2016..

Intel is making piles from this..the suppliers have to buy it at any price. Particularly as Intel's only real x86 market, AMD, is having a bit of a snooze.

..All this gives a warning about what will happen if AMD goes under and Intel takes total control.

Newegg USA seems to have I7-6700 (I don't know how a USA address affects an order from Canada -- e.g. duty).
