My cable company also does my internet and phone, so for the time being I still have cable TV. However, this is one of the reasons why I invested in Amazon instead of Comcast.

I did that for 3 years and was pretty happy, but we eventually I went back mainly because some of the shows for the wife and kids became too much of a hassle to track down on the internet manually each week like I did for the sports I watch, it was more convenient to have cable and a DVR and let them manage their own shows.
If you don't have a wife and kids that watch a bunch of shows then cutting the cord is no big deal.

Ditched Time Warner TV and kept Internet and phone. Saved like $130 a months, PLUS I maxed the speed out. As a bonus, I plugged all my TVs into the wall via coax, and STILL GET TV! A number of them are also in HD.

I'm getting ready to ditch mine. Verizon has raised my rates twice in the last few months because I refuse to sign a 2 year contract. I was wondering though, how do you deal with recording shows. Has anyone had any experience with buying their own DVR? I bought a combo DVR-DVD-R like 7 or 8 years ago. It was crazy expensive, but kind of cool to be able to make my own DVDs of seasons of a show or movies that came on. When I moved into my last house it got put into a guest room since it didn't support HDTV. Now it's in a box in my attic since I don't like to ditch electronics that still work since you never know when you might need it. As for cord cutting... well, if it was just me I could do it easily. The only thing I would really miss would be football (college, not NFL) but with the fiancee and my kids I can't get away with it. My fiancee will set our DVR to record as many new fall shows as she can then she waits for me to watch them with her but I just don't want to sink a bunch of time into television anymore. Pretty sure my kids would revealed without Disney/Nickelodeon/etc.

I pay for basic cable and Internet at my girlfriends house. Cost about $80.00 a month. $65.00 of it is internet. I refuse to pay $150.00 a month for crap TV. We also have Netflix and Amazon which takes up most of our viewing time.

Unless you use 4G on your phone tethered to your PC or a satellite dish, you're getting the internet over a cord, so I find the term "cord cutting" really stupid.
The truth is that the companies discount for bundled services, so I'm paying about the same today for cable and internet and phone as I used to pay for all three separately back 10+ years ago. The phone bill especially was lousy, with fees and taxes all over the place. VoiP phone doesn't have all those. Yet, anyway.
If perhaps you dislike your cable company in particular and would rather pay other companies the same or even more amount of money, well ok I guess.

We moved in July and elected to forego cable or direct TV in our new house. Our comcast bill in our old house was $190/month. My son already watched all his cartoons on Netflix and Amazon Prime through the Xbox 360. My wife and I would DVR and watch a handful of shows/comedies, and then we'd watch SF Giants games and I'd try to watch the 49ers (but sitting for 3 hours in the middle of the day on a weekend was usually not possible with kids and stuff anyway).
We're paying something like $80 a month now for ATT Uverse internet and phone, and then we still have netflix and also bough a Hulu plus subscription. Next baseball season we'll get an MLB subscription for the $140 or whatever it is, and I just bought an NFL gamepass subscription for $99 for the entire season. So that comes out to about $70/month savings when it's all said and done.
We've been happy with it so far.

We've been happy with it so far. NFL gamepass any good? Glad to know the price, it's conspicuously absent on their website lol. I'm not super impressed with it, but it's the best I could find. From my laptop, I can stream live audio of the radio broadcast while I'm at home. That's nice because I really like the 49ers announcers. And then you can REPLAY the TV broadcasts of all the games after the games are done for the day. That part sucks and is useless to me. I would like for the Gamepass subscription to include live streaming of the TV broadcast, but the deals with cable providers must preclude that. That all being said, I'm a Verizon customer, and Verizon customers can stream ALL games LIVE from their phones for FREE using NFL mobile. BUT, it will only use mobile data and will shut down if you connect to a wireless network. I thought it was going to solve all of my NFL needs until I used 3GB of data watching the first half of the Monday Night game last week on my phone, and I only get 6GB of data for the entire month (that's when I started looking into Gamepass). But (and now I know it gets confusing), it seems that with the Gamepass subscription NFL Mobile will allow you to stream games live using WiFi. So I may be able to watch the game on my phone while at home (with WiFi) or listen to the radio broadcast at home. Where I still appear to be SOL is listening to the game if I'm out doing something. I'm so used to just turning on the radio in my truck and getting 49ers games. Nothing I've found so far will let me keep up with the game if I go out to run errands. There's an AM station out of Orange County that carries 49ers games, but they also cover the LA Angles, and the Angels game was on instead of the 49ers this last week.
