Can't hurt, but it does get tiresome adapting builds to their constant rebalancing and quirks. I suggested something like that diamond shape thing years ago, but as a form of power management the player could control. Want more power to weapons? Fine, but it will take away from speed, defense etc. No one listens.
I feel like I reached my personal peak skill in the game a long time ago and haven't gotten any better ever since. And that's not good enough to keep up. LOL I'm not leaving it, but taking a break and looking for alternatives. At this point, I'm more interested in gaming with the group than the game itself.

Well, at least they acknowledge that a complete reworking is needed. Hopefully, they can remove ghost heat and just make all this "mech based".

Some of the quirks are pointless, some are spot-on, and some are just stupid OP.
For one thing, they need to stop tinkering with projectile velocity... it makes learning a weapon damn near impossible when PPC velocity varies by 400 m/s from mech to mech.

There was a TON of uproar on the forums after the first PTS. With the removal on some IS quirks and the ability to theorycraft some clan mechs into way OP, people were completely unhinged. Turns out, the first PTS was only supposed to examine the sensor updates. Besides being a really backwards way to attack balance (sensors are the least complained about), PGI would have saved themselves a lot of grief by making that known ahead of time. Eventually they will learn it is better to share there ideas than to explain them after the inevitable explosion...right. There are supposed to be more PTSs down the road. For the forseable(sp?) we are stuck with what we have.

This is BS. Ran a match and got dropped in way over my head. This new matchmaker may be the last straw for me for a while. Edmeistr, a few other 228 guys, Impaler. Obviously my team got mopped up in minutes. Blows my mind that it comes up with team like that without groups, and always on the other side. LOL My attitude is probably holding me back too, but I'm sick of the crappy match ups.

If so that's crazy, we learned in closed beta how terrible that experience was for the solo people...

No, I checked and Ed was streaming for NGNG, playing solo. It put that group together on its own. It was a PUG match and threw me to the wolves. That's what makes me so mad about it.

The MM has been very erratic. I suspect that we are probably all ranked Tier 1 or Tier 2 as nearly every match I am dumped against the tryhard battalion, all dual gauss and LAZORVOMIT.
Trying to run a "fun" mech is painful, and trying to basic out a new mech is pointless.
The problem is that while CW is supposed to be for the tryhards, they've already extinguished all the other casual players from that game mode and are now chasing low hanging fruit in the PUG queue.
The group queue for normal game modes is even more ridiculous.
