That sounds all thougtful, poetic and lovely J9 it is not even close to what it's really about.
Nothing to do with looking for perfection, it's not even really about VR. I get it, some people just want peace love and harmony and are willing to accept anything in the name of CFS.

IIRC the Patch came despite Loft's participation, not because.

Some of BOS's cockpits are COD's best work.

You know the company developing BoS is called "1C Game Studios" right? It's a partnership between 1C and 777 Studios. It's an obvious benefit that 1C brings their knowledge and work on WWII sims to the table.

That's because some of us care about the genre more than just kicking and screaming about every little wish that's not instantly granted by every game.
If every player had your attitude, no developer would want to create these games anymore.

Yes, quite right, instead of continuing to develop a DX11 engine that quite obviously has a better potential for future development they simply cannibalised it and grafted it in to a nearing defunct DX9 engine, quite bizarre really.

I can't help feeling you brought this up in another attempt to discredit me or some other weird agenda.

You seem to find plenty of reason to.

The reason ED developed the EDGE graphics engine, if I understand this correctly, is that when they (or a third party initially) tried to create a better more detailed map for the NTTR (on pre order today!) it just wasn't possible to get this to run well. The benefit of DX11 over DX9 is that is offloads to the GPU much of the processing from the CPU that bottlenecks performance. Probably because the CPU has to draw so any objects in a sim and run FMs etc. This allows weaker CPUs to run the game much better. That higher frame rate is obviously a benefit running VR but VR was not the reason EDGE was created.

Well I hope our friends from the BOS forum take heed and stop getting mad at people for not liking their game.

The benefits of DX11 over DX9 are probably way too numerous to mention. DX9 is so, well yesterday. Now DX12 is around the corner.
Even Maddox realized that with Cliffs all those years ago, albeit with way too large an ambition.

Now I am not taking away from 1CGS, it is very apparent why they chose the route they did, they already had all the code from ROF which was DX9, could deliver a WWII sim in a short period of time, which I am sure was important to 1C to keep the franchise moving and why they elected for this joint venture with 777 to start with. To try and adapt code from Cliffs for BOS, I am sure would have been a nightmare, especially with so many parts of it being somewhat broken.

I don't think there is any doubt though, DX9 has pretty much seen it's day for the future. Obviously ED knew that quite some time ago, and are planning appropriately for the future. The limitations of DX9 are easily seen in the performance issues it has in today's sims.

Only time will tell what 1CGS will do for the future.

You know, no matter how I feel about a game, I rarely give two farts about defending it (or vice versa) against people who feel differently.

Either I like the game enough that I'm playing it instead, or I dislike it enough that I don't care to waste time on it.

I'm beginning to wonder if some people think that this SimHQ forum IS the BoS game and participating in these endless circular arguments is the game they claim to enjoy so much. It certainly would explain a lot.

QFT. If it wasn't for the constant arguments this sub forum would be pretty much dead.

To read the discussions about BoS/BoM here is, imo, the only way to have fun with this game!!!!
