Hi Rick, just a quick question about time advancement rule after getting 5 kills and promitions. Is it mandatory or voluntary?
"Take the cylinder out of my kidneys, The connecting rod out of my brain, my brain, From out of my arse take the camshaft, And assemble the engine again."
Well...that swoop and loop business has succeeded beyond my most fervent hopes. In a scrape w/ a flock of Pups here's 1 of 7 kills for the outing...I swear....all settings cool ...for my good fortune I've been upped to a DIII and had a gong hung on my shabby uniform...here's the new ride ....here's Johann Dory to date... ....sorry about the rush all....I leave for work tomorrow....not home for 2 wks...
Gaw, leave some for the rest of us!! You will be a hard man to catch up with!
Cheers

absurd.....I've seen you guys at work....I'll be left in the dust. 7 kills one mission is a record for me at any time. Thrashed 3 in the air...they were all headed home (not landing) and never flinched as I moved up the line until #3 went up in flames....must have peppered 3 others who crashed out of sight I suppose....and in a fit of chivalry....gave a cripple on the ground the chop in no mans land before sulking off home.

"I think I'm on fire." Stay on target. "My ship just exploded." Stay on target. "Yup, I'm dead." Stay on target. "Gawd you're a putz." Stay on target. "I hate you." Stay on target.

Three RFC Brass Hats were strolling down a street in London. Two walked into a bar, the third one ducked. _________________________________________________________________________

By contrast, my modest first effort celebrates my high flying "Eagles" from South London....
Harry, I'm curious about the reference to "Eagles" from South London. My great grandmother's surname was Eagles and the family was from South London. Any connection?
Ah, not unless she played football My "Eagles" are Crystal Palace, currently sitting in 2nd place in the Premier League. I used to watch them as a kid, and now I'm watching them again, thanks to a) the BPL being shown live on NBC, and b) them being good enough to play in the BPL! They were a lowly third division club back in my childhood days. Affectionately known to their fans as "the Eagles".
Here's hoping that my pilot, Cristen Pallitz, can give a reasonable account of himself in the upcoming challenge
Nice pic, your Squirt seems to be a brother of my own cat !

Yeah Corsaire, they could pass as litter mates. Thanks Rick, I miss the little runt. Plenty of cats at a nearby farm, should be another litter due soon, or already born and in a sheltered spot. Stopped by a few days ago and Gary wasn't there. The cats came out to greet me anyways. I tossed some cat food out that i brought and played with adults and some 1/2 growns.
Nice cats all.....I must be the worst team mate ever.....almost everybody's dead after every mission. I help where I can but Crikey....left alone after a furball...what's a monster to do? 3 milk runs followed by an enemy lines mission...15 Noops on 5 Alb......I gave 'em a squirt and fled....2 days in the repair shop!!!
What a way to start a career! First combat mission and they almost buried me!
1 May 1917 @ 08h15 Patrol our lines between Thelus and Athies
At briefing we were advised the wind would be 6 kn from the NW, and we would have towering cumulous from 609 to 1800 m. This was to be my first mission with Jasta 12. My initiation so to speak.
Kallwell lead the flight with Stroh, Jorke, Kaisenberg, myself and Drescher as rottenflieger. We formed up east of the field at 9100 ft and headed for Thelus. At Thelus we turned south east towards Athies and then returned back to Thelus on the same leg. No enemy craft were encountered and Kallwell gave the signal to scrub the mission and return to base. I broke first over our field and quick descent, then headed east a bit to test my guns and sighting on some ground. I then banked back towards the base and was first to land. I waited for the rest of the squadron to come down and watched horrified as Kaisenburg came trundling down the runway directly aimed at my tail. I waited for him to divert left or right but he kept coming and chewed up the tail of my DII, shaking the hell out of me. I had visions of his prop chewing me up. I jumped clear of my cockpit as quickly as I could and rushed over to his cockpit. It seems he was fine and just exiting it as I arrived. I just stood there looking at him with my hands on my hips as he turned around to face me. All he said was, “you should be getting your DIII early Ernst, thanks to me. I don’t want to hear any thank you, just buy me a few pilsners in the mess tonight will you. That’s all the thanks I need” as he patted me on the shoulder with a silly grin and walked off of the field. When the cloud of steam cleared from around my head I headed over the RO’s office thinking that being the new man I had better just get over it…
Interesting that in the last shot there is blood on my windscreen but according to mission summary I was fine!
